A longbow buck in the Adirondack's! That is awesome! That is an amazing accomplishment ! Congratulations to you!

Excellent recounting, thanks for sharing.

You Done Good!
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Thanks guys.

A little update on shot placement now that the deer has been skinned and quartered with pics. This deer was building up some nice fat, really thick layers and not from mast crops. Very few acorns around this spot this year, but the browse is prolific now that everything is growing back after the logging several years ago.

As I mentioned shot was a little high and back but not much and placement was definitely in the vitals. The 150 grain Stinger Buzzcut broke a rib on entrance and made a good-sized hole resulting in the pools of foamy blood early in the track. Broadhead had one blade stuck in a far rib, breaking that rib on the entrance used a lot of energy; chest cavity was full of blood, just couldn't get to the ground with no hole through the skin and fascia. One thing I hadn't realized was the deer was angled to me at the shot, exit was down 3" and back about 2". With all the leaves I thought broadside or slightly angled away. Anyway, shot was right where I had the small opening as I could just see the front leg before I shot.

What bow were you using?

Bow is a 60" double carbon Omega Native, 45# @ 28", drawing to 29.
