One last post from KS LTR1...
This is another pretty neat video.
It was a windy day with gusts 25-35 mph.  We decided to not really hunt but go scout the area and glass.  (Didn't even full camo up)
We were in the area we had seen a few before when we ran across a good band of Javi.  I jumped back in the brush and Huckbuck was about 20 yards west of me and caught kind of in the open.  Since he was tagged out already he grabbed his phone and took some pics and a video.  You'll notice the winds are high and swirling. Because of this I had a lot of nervous javi and a lot of eyes on me.  I decided to wait for the last one hoping there would be less eyes.  The wait seemed long as they kept coming and close to busted several times.  Tony also nearly busted.  As the last one went by and got to a decent quartering away shot he was nervous.  You will notice that my expert video guy neglected to get the kill shot on video. I remembered one thing Terry told us was don't shoot when bristled up.  Wait for them to relax.  Well he was bristled up and I was staring at his bristles for a long time waiting for him to relax.  I guess I didn't listen to the part when Terry said at some point stop staring at the bristles and pick a spot.  I'm not too proud to say the reality was as I released my eyes were still fixed on the neck area (bristles) and my arrow flew directly over his back for a clean miss!  There was no kill shot to capture. It was still a fantastic fun outing on a windy day and a lesson learned as I tagged out the next morning.  Enjoy the footage and just try and forget this miss part!  :banghead:  realities of the hunt.

Ok, here are a few things to consider for those coming to Invasion 2.

Pruning shears and hand shears are very used  here.

Bring an extra head for your razor.

Flagging tape or toilet paper in your pack.

Don't forget your tweasers.

Only a towel and washcloth are needed at the Ranch.

If anyone is bringing a group meal please text me me know.

Sunscreen or coverage hat.

Don't rubber bottom  boots, as in the 'Maine' type.

I'll be back with more and Sponsor Info...

Great stuff as usual!!  Looks like everyone is having a blast!!! Terry, it looks like you were tackling those javies instead of sticking them with an arrow!!!! Sounds like everyone is making battle wounds, scars, & great memories!!! Keep the stories and pics coming!!!

Jason
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

Terry Green

Ha! Roy has been waiting for YEARS for an excuse to use that pic !!!

There was a big javelina that Terry and I called psycho. He would not stay in the open very long. He would appear on the road then disappear into the thick cover only to appear somewhere else on the road ten or fifteen minutes later. There seemed to be no pattern to his behavior. He is a very challenging and difficult critter. We will see him again in week 2 and maybe get within range during one of his brief and random appearances.

Now it's the morning of day 4 and I gotta get busy! Bodie has 2 and me a big fat goose egg. Pressure is on! He drops me off in one spot and goes to check out another. About an hour later he comes back and says get in, I take that as a good sign. Sure enough he has spotted a bunch of 6. We drive around to where they were and he let's me out about 150yds from where they were last seen. A short 5 minute wait and they are back out, wind is almost perfect, I stalk to about 60yds and ran completely out of cover so I slip into a hole in the cactus and hope they come my way. After about 10 minutes I can smell em and hear em, they are about  30 yds and coming! The first one is a big boar about 8 yds and the Little Delta Bow let's loose a VPA 3 blade tipped arrow and he is down within 3yds. Bodie is watching all this through binocs and calls to tell me to sit tight, more on the way. Another 20 minute wait and I can hear em coming. Another nice boar in the lead and this time I take a 6yd shot with a big snuffer 3 blade, this guy makes it only 8 yds and goes down. Javi season over! You cannot view this attachment.

Hell, I'm not saying I'm an angel, but when it came to killing Javies I couldn't hold a candle to the Arkansas Mafia.  :saywhat:

SPONSOR Report Invasion 1...

Backwoods Coffee - All brews went over well. The two new roasts were the first to actually challenge High Noon.  As all ways, the attendees loved having them all each morning.
Again,  don't forget to use the code Tradgang10 for your discount.

While Backwoods was ruling the morning,  Shifty's ruled the rest of the day. All 3 were used every day  Classic, Red, and Garlic Salt.  Ribs, Javies, Ham, sausage, potatoes, sandwiches, and more. These guys REALLY liked it.

American Leathers Big Shot gloves were admired and used in camp shooting targets.  None were really used hunting, understandingly, as guys didn't want to change anything just before a hunt. Also, some were shooting their own Big Shot.

Abowyer broadheads drew a lot of attention, and two models were taken out to hunt. Joe took a couple of White Tails home to set up for Invasion 2. All were very impressed with the precisioned edge put on by Sponsor KME.

The Dark Timers and Trad Only shafts both were shot in camp, and both were taken to the field.

The Centaur heads were admired, but neither were shot, probably due to being glue ones and no hot glue for those who wanted to try them out. I used a Battle Axe last year to cut one of my Javies in half.

VPA 3 Blades were responsible for a large majority of the kills week one. Most of these kills had very short recoveries.

The Asbel Zip Up was put in a pedestal as far as construction and the quality of the wool used. And, the color/patter REALLY drew attention. It was also taken to the field and deceived a few Javies.

I will get some more pics this week in different settings.

Safari Tuff Quivers are in the field also. As some of you know, it's my #1 'go to' when not using a bow quiver.  They are really well made and functional. One attendee is ordering one.

The new quiver proto type by Don Ward at Eagle's
Flight was very much admired.  The Inset was a really nice touch and amazingly crafted. And everyone was checking it out. It also went to the field more than once. One attendee is also ordering one.

His hog light bow set up was also drawing a lot of attention. It now comes ready to hunt with a green light.

And as always,  there's always Zwickeys in camp. This year, we have all 4 blade models available to use.

More later, as Invasion 2 platoon reports in a few days
