I was probably wearing this when I met my good friend Dennis Allman from NCBA in 1986. A few years later I retired this shirt from the field only to get worn at a TBG, NCBA and Paradise hunt club events.

Well, Terry I guess its well enough broken in that it is soft and quiet in the woods by now. It is funny how it doesn't matter how worn and ragged our favorite hunting clothes get, we continue to wear them. I have some oldie goldies, but they are not quite that worn. My dad gave me a couple of sets of military BDU's in 1976, but I haven't worn them out yet. The oldest I had was a pair of 1942 issue  Army pants I found in an old barracks bag Dad had. I snagged them when I tripped going over a barbed wire fence. They came out worse off than your jacket. Actually, I have a number of items considerably older than 20 years, but I seldom wore them out before I moved on to something else.

Yes,,,, it so soft its like wearing baby powder.

No telling how many mountains it climbed, fences it climbed over(legally), trees it climbed up, a creeks and sloughs it waded or swam though.... I've got the pants that are that old too.  Most of my hero pics are in that standard 'wardrobe'.

Nice to see some beloved vintage garments.... cause you are right.... only a handful of companies left making this type of quality.

I had this old Bear coat since 1971. It's getting a little tight now.

Here are some more old friends. The one jacket was part of a set that dated to 1969.

The oldest items I have are a Stormy Cromer hat my father-in-law had dating back to the 1930's. I don't use it, because it is a little ragged. I have a 1950's era heavy wool Army field shirt that is too small. Also, I have a 50's Air Force field jacket, likewise too tight. None of my stuff has endured the rigors suffered by Terry's shirt, though. Some of these items will still be ready to go when my grandson gets older. I guess most of us are alike, not wanting to get rid of our comfy hunting clothes no matter how old or tattered they get.

Bigriver

First kill wearing the at the time Hidden Wolf wool pullover, 1999
Last kill wearing it in November 2020. Still my favorite piece, and still in perfect condition . Wear it on just about every hunt. The caribou was shot trotting by at 37 yards, last hour of the last day, after seeing nothing for a week. Took out the top of the heart, shot that Bigriver flatbow pretty well in those days. Tracking help and photo was taken by G Fred Asbell, who was in our camp.

I have a couple of wool shirts that I hunt in, one was a gift from my wife in 1977. The other maybe around 1985. Don't get as much use here in Georgia but still good stuff !!
