In the early days of archery in Washington the only archery club was the Seattle Bowmen. Glenn went down to show them his stuff in a shoot at the Mountlake Playfield. He thought of himself as a pretty good shot .... he came in last ! Little did he know they would be shooting a York Round which was shooting at 48" straw rounds at 100 yards. " That was not my bag."

Notice any thing different in these two photos ?

In one he is shooting right handed and the other he is shooting lefty ... I believe he started righty and went to lefty for his dominant eye ...

Glenn with a few Cascade Yew wood staves on his young shoulders.  Glenn's father worked in the woods and I'm sure Glenn had the inside scoop on all the good spots to find the prime Yew. Son Jay still harvests Yew to make his fine longbows.

The picture on the left is Glenn while he was a Boy Scout in Troop 291. He learned about Yew Wood and making bows in his Scout manual.
