Right now I have close to 40 bows and won't take the time to list them all. There are many others that I don't have, but here is my list of favorites in various categories.

Best lightweight and handy bow: Shrew (any model but especially the Classic Hunter)
Best fitted limb (limbs custom fitted) 3 piece: Brackenbury Quest
Best interchangeable limb (limbs not custom fitted) 3 piece bow: Morrison
Best looking bow ever: Blacktail Snakebit
Best deal on a new bow: Holm-Made
Best deal on kid's bow: Maddog Pup

Others will have different opinions, but these are mine. I don't have a Black Swan and want to compare it to my other similar bows. If David Knipes praises the Black Swans, they  must be something special. We are very fortunate to have many great bowyers creating the bows we shoot and most of them are wonderful people too.

Had a 60's Bear Grizzly, ACS-CX, Morrison Cheyenne (reg. limbs and foam core), Wes Wallace Royal longbow, and 3 Blacktail VL Elite TDs. I have shot others too.  Still have the Blacktails!
Also have another Blacktail on order...and another set of limbs.....for now.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Shifting Shadow

My favorite of customs and production bows is the Quinn Stallion.

One bow. One arrow. My ideal.

Bighorn (Asbell)
Navajo Scout
Marriah Williwaw (Wish I had it back)
Bob Lee Thunderbolt
Palmer,1 set standard limbs & 1 set dbl.carbon
Palmer,Single carbon, like better than dbl.carbon
Habu VyperKahn, 3 sets of longbow limbs
Chek-mate Firebird
Cascade Golden Hawk Magnum (52")

I still have the Bighorn, Palmer single carbon, Habu, Chek-mate and the Cascade.
My keepers... the last 3 on the list, Habu, Chek-mate and Cascade. I go back and forth between them. All three are within 1 pound of each other, 48 & 49 @ 27". The VyperKhan is the fastest with 49 @ 27", 60" triple carbon limbs. The Chek-mate at 56" and the Cascade at 52", both 48 @ 27 are not as fast, but are very forgiving and accurate bows. The Cascade, I can shoot from a sitting position on the ground. It is a very good short hunting bow.
I also have a number of Bears and Martins, etc that I shoot from time to time. Jim.

i can't honestly remember all the custom bows i have owned,i primarily shoot and prefer longbows.i have ordered a few bows built to my specs from some great bowyers, and have purchased several in-stock bows from several fine bowyers, and have traded and bought many fine bows on the secondary market.i come back to the treadway longbow for keeps, and acadian classic recurve for a keeper.regards robert      :coffee:

Hi Robert! Wasn't there a Wallace "Royal" LB that I bought from you? What did you replace it with?

I am sure it is just my cynical nature but this thread looks to me like nine pages of an inventory that would make the right crook happy as can be.  With just a few key strokes an unscrupulous individual could add the physical address of most of us to this information database and know exactly where to cache in on homes that have as many as $10,000 or more worth of custom bows in them. It is kind of a voluntary public bow registry if you will.

I debated posting this because I didn't want anyone to feel like I was admonishing them.  If you think I am overly cautious you may well be right.  I would like to think that the traditional archery community is devoid of individuals that would take advantage of information like this, but we know it is not.  Be careful about what you post on the internet.

I've owned about 8 or 9 customs; Bob Lee, Palmer, Bob Sarrels. My goto bow is actually 2 bows that I like about the same and would not part with for any amount of money = My Bob Sarrels 3pc takedown longbow and my Bob Sarrels 3pc takedown recurve. Both are 50#@28".

Red Beastmaster

I have had several custom and production bows. I currently have three bows that I will not part with.

1. Abbott longbow
2. Thunderhorn longbow
3. Early 70's Bear Grizzly

I have a Brack Quest in production right now that I'm sure will be with me 'til they close the lid on me.
