Well, stopped again for awhile. Rose caught what I had and is in about the same shape and test results - but they kept her in the hospital yeasterday, as she has a history of her colds, etc. turning into pneumonia. They want her where they can keep an eye on her.

My dogs (5) are all mad at me, because I didn't bring her home yesterday. You know, the looks that say. "You took her away, now what'd you do with her???"

Sorry to hear about Rose, but real glad she's getting the right care, not that your care ain't right, oh heck you know what I mean

LOL- yep. I got to bring her home today at about 5PM. She's a lot better but still needs some serious improvements. The dogs (and I) are a lot happier!

I finally felt good enough yesterday to start tree tillering "Hollyween" (thank you, Lord), and I should have some pics of progress, again, soon - if she holds up.

Thank you so very much, J.W. I think we are both at least ready to start it off a whole lot better. The very best to you and yours also.

Not much to show yet but I will start chasing "Hollyween" again now, weather (and ambition) permitting. Due to the shape of the handle and placement of the limbs, I find I have to put a wooden shim under the right side of the handle to make the limbs sit level in the cradle of my tillering tree. I worked on it a little more today, with four-in-hand file and cabinet scraper. She seems to be bending pretty good for a start but, of course, needs a lot of work yet, I believe. At least you can see she does still exist - LOL - and I haven't given up on her yet.

razorback

Bernie, what is the target weight for this bow. i am excited to see the final outcome.

LOL - and stick it's leaves into any part of you that gets close to them, you mean? Been there, done that   :D

I did do a little more filing on both the handle and the limbs of Hollyween today, and exercised it on the floor some but the weather was too unfriendly to go out and check the tiller again, yet.

BTW, I do have a nice little Holly kids bow that a friend (the one who taught/teaches me bow making) made from a small sapling, and then gave to me to finish and keep for kids who might want to shoot, a year or so ago. I've shown it on here before, I think, but let me see if I can find a pic or two to stick in here - just to show Holly "can do" - LOL. I put NA symbols on it, along with finishing (Tru-oil), and named it "Holy Holly". It's 61" and 20#@16"

razorback, I am hoping for from 40-50# at 25-27". I pretty much figure to make all my bows (so far) in my weight/draw.

Thanks, to both of you for looking in.

Hope you, Rose and the dogs are feeling better now, Bernie.
We'll be waiting patiently when you and the weather agree on a day to tiller the sapling bow.
God's blessings in Jesus' name.

ber643

LOL - I guess the "more age advanced" I get the more of a "fair weather critter" I become. I am working on it (slow and careful) inside though - a little more last night, and it is bending better all the time, I think. If I just don't overshoot, and wind up with another 20 pounder - LOL. I guess I could use one of those tillering sticks for inside - but I'm a little leery of them - for me. I need to make a proper length string for it now too.
