Considering I only built three knives in 2014, I'm off to a good start for 2015.  Not even halfway through the first week and I'm finished with my first one.  There are several things that I want to try this year that I've never done before, and I'm able to cross two off the list with this knife.  Number one:  stacked leather handle.  Number two:  antler handle.  To be fair, I've used antler twice before, but it was in the form of scales before.  This is my first try with a solid piece of antler.  It was a tad larger than I needed for this knife which resulted in a kinda stumpy, blocky look, but the shape/size feels great in the hand.  The leather and antler are both stained with Fiebings medium brown leather dye. The blade has more drop at the point than I usually use, almost a spear point, but I just wanted to try something different there too.  It's not my favorite blade I've done by a long shot, but I'm sure this profile will be just fine performance wise.

Just for kicks, here are a few other things I hope to get to share with you guys this year:  frame handle(I have a bowie blade mostly finished that I may try this on), friction folder(straight razor), and a take down(don't hold your breath on that one).  Anyway, here's this one for now.

Great job Matt. Looks very stout. I am looking forward to seeing your frame handle knife.

Stout, I like that.  I was trying to think of another word for stumpy that sounded like a positive description.  Thanks for the kind words.

Nice, I would carry that any day!!

Stumpy as it seems, it matches the blade very nicely! It looks great to me!
