I just ordered some blades from Jants.  I'll go out on a limb and commit to two and possibly three for the trade.

That long lead time really helps.

Have a question? In 2002 I lost my Dad, two brothers, three Grandfathers. All of us Knife collectors. Now my oldest brother and my self have dabbeled into making blades.  To the point over the year I ended up with all of the knives from all of the collections. Would these knives be up for swap or not?    Thanks ,,,,Later...Buzz

Put me in for one.  I'm a newbie at this game.  Loyd introduced me to the craft of knive making by showing his fare to my wife (Mrs. Stickman).  Needless to say we went home with one of his custom friction folders.  Well, that bug bit me two and I finally built my first two knives.
This just got me warmed up. I made two for Christmas gifts (sorry no pics), and then I made two more...
I just got the scales (I think that's the right lingo) applied to my swap knife and am going to back to the shop to finish it next.
In this knife swap, are we making sheaths for the knifes also?      If so, I may have to stop at one knife 'cause I jus' ain't no good at theese sheaths yet  :banghead:   'Course I'll make one all the same.  Now that I've figured out this photo bucket, I'll post a picture of the knife when I get it complete.  Gotta Go!!!  :jumper:

Ok boys, here's my trader.  It doesn't have an edge on it yet, but it's way past my bedtime!  :knothead:   I hope this is up to snuff, I'm still making them out of old saw blades.  Those scales are jarrah in case you were interested.  Someone chime in on the sheath thing.  Thanks.  :jumper:

Hi Brett,
Addictive, ain't it  :D
A sheath would be helpful, but don't feel obligated to make one.  I started this swap last year in the hopes of getting people involved in something hunting related in the off-season.  A lot of people took the time to learn how to make a decent knife... leatherworking is an entirely different craft to learn  :)

REMINDER When you get your knives finished please email me your address and tell me how many knives you're putting in the swap.  It's much easier for me to keep track of that way, rather than having to go through all the pages.  Just click on the little 'email Jeremy' icon above any of my posts and send one through TG.

OK, folks, I just e-mailed Jeremy and let him know I have one completed for the Swap. I'll post pics (more than you want to see - probably   :D   ) after supper.

LOL - I'm messing with the "partial" one you sent me now, Lewis. I think it's starting to look pretty good - I like it anyway. Thanks again, my friend.

Now on to the pics of my Swap Offering. I call it "Gecko, With A Steel Tongue". No, I haven't "named" my previous two knives but this one struck me that way right from the git-go, so I went with it (as you will see). I used one of the "New" little Helle Blade blanks called Ola-Kniven #56", from Dryad/Helle. Again I say they are fast to fill an order, and very helpful folks. I have a number of pics because I like to show how I envision the use of the specific antler handles I choose for a given knife (I know, I'm weird - LOL), so the pics will be in two postings:

Now for the "In Hand" Demo pics     :knothead:

With the, what I'd look at as a little Caper, held this way (normally), the eye guard of the antler rests comfortably between the 2nd and 3rd finger (a little hard to see), and a clear place at the base of the bur makes a conveniant thumb rest/pressure point. I left the tine it's full length, as it curled neatly around the heel of my hand. Whoever winds up with it may choose to cut it closer to their hand:

Held this way the Eye Guard/Brow Tine curves sweetly along the heel of my thumb towards the center of my palm. I hope it is likeable, comfortable, and usable to whoever gets it.
(I haven't signed it yet, Doc, but I will, I promise -     :)    )

It may look small (I have a large hand for a little guy) but I bet it will be a "tough" little knife that will last many years.
