That's a good sized buck in my book! Congrats!
How long have you had your blind set up in that location? Could you post a pic of it brushed in? Been curious about "how much brush is enough".

You get what you get.

When i set up a spot for my blind, i pick out a hemlock or pine tree with some branches that will lay on the roof of the blind if possible. If i trim out some small branches to get the blind tucked in better i use them to cover the roof, this will break up the outline of the top of the blind. Sometimes i have been laying a few branches on the ground in front of the blind if there are extra, i really haven't brushed it in real heavy yet, there is a lot of foliage still on. Later in the season i will find out what works and what wont. This is my first year at this and I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants. After this season i will have a better idea of what to do. But so far i have had 7 deer inside 20 yards and only one of them acted nervous about the blind but still came in for a closer look. The rest of them paid no attention to it at all.

good job!! great buck! i'm at work and that story makes me want to be in the woods! I don't get off till 6:30am but am going to throw my camos on and hit the woods behind my house for an early morning stalk when I get home!
...if nothing else to breathe in the fresh cool air and know that somewhere in the woods a beautiful sleek doe is sneaking to her bed after a night of good eating...

Congrats and thanks for the story too!

Good on'ya Jim, great buck and great story!!  I've got a DB blind that I want to try - just gotta make time to practice shooting out of it.  It's a lot different for me shooting out of the blind.  Did you shoot through the screen or out the window?
