Alright now, y'all quit pickin' on them Meeses up thar - ya gut enuff meat fer the freezer.

Just kidding of course - bless your hearts, and congratulations. In the six years I was in Maine, much to my disappointment, I never got drawn for a tag. However I saw many, many Moose up close and personal while hunting Deer and trout fishing. Couldn't even hunt them in my area either - even if you did get drawn. Loved seeing those big ol' critters. Used to talk to them but they can be pretty intimidating at times, if they take the notion. I remember "talking" to one family of four of them from the top of my Subaru wagon for about 5-10 minutes - LOL. It seemed to sooth them and they left. Only time I ever saw a bull, cow, and two calfs together like that - the calvs were as tall as the car!

Congrats guys, that does look like alot of awesome eating!!!!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

I had some moose steak and eggs for breakfast, and it was GOOD!!!!

Here are a few more pics.

Congrats Brian,
Am still watching the mail box like a hawk, I've been chasing a few Mulies around, no luck sofar.
Called a BIG bull for my Partner last Thursday, no bull on the ground though, 4 yds, will tell you the story later.

Gun

62" Kywk Styk - 55# @29"
Around 590 gr. arrow
55-70 Patriots with steel screw in adapter, brass insert and 160 STOS head I was trying out. Not much of a blood trail as per usual with 2 blades, but didn't need it as I watched him tip over.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

LOL!!!

I just realized our bow specs and arrow weight specs are IDENTICLE.  That is almost as WEIRD as killing 2 moose in one day.  LOL!!!  I had three blades although I didn't need a bloodtrail as he never got up from the bed I shot him in.

I JUST got done processing my little bull.  BTW Gun, your loins are cut and in a freezer bag in my fridge.  May get over that way tomorrow.  All I have left to do is saw my ribs peices in half after they freeze, and cut and package my liver after it gets a couple more salt bath soaks over the next day.

Sure a good thing we only get one moose tag a year, because I don't know if I have the energy to do it again until next year anyway.  At least I keep telling myself that while I bum around thinking about the RUT being in full swing and no tag in my pocket.  LOL!!!

Thanks again buddy.  Gwasshopper vewwy gwateful.  Ah so!

Outstanding! Beautiful country too; I've made the drive from Edmonton to Grande Prairie a few times and spent more time looking off the highway for moose than on the highway for vehicles. Thanks for sharing your success with us.
There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone. Everyone knows what they mean. What's more important is time that is known as the little dash in between.
