My 66" Big 5 is 14" and my 67" HalfBreed is 14.5".

Has anyone shot one of the HHA Ol' Timers? If so, how do they compare to the regular bows?

Trad Longbow Joe

I used to own one and found it did not have the same zip as the Hills with glass on both the belly and the back.  That is just from my observations, but it was very sweet shooting bow.

Trad Longbow Joe

I have two Hills both 68" long and the Big Five has a 15 1/2" riser and the Wesley Special has a 14" riser.  The Wesley does not have any bamboo running over the belly side of the riser where as the Big Five does, which may account for the difference in the riser lengths.

It's been a very sad state if affairs lately.
I have taken the job in KY and its a time crunch so I have been working 7 days a week 10-12 hrs a day and have not picked up any of my Berry bows in 2 1/2 weeks. I brought the Morningstar with me in the off chance I can squeeze in a shoot but to no avail.

On top of that I am due to receive a new Berry shortly and no chance to shoot!!!! I hope everyone is having great shooting sessions.

Brian I'm trying my best to make up for you buddy.

Hopefully my version of the "Grasshopper" aka "Northstar" will be arriving in the not too distant future.

If the new bow 66" and 51/2 performs like the original "Grasshopper" 62" and 43@28, it might knock my "Vixen"aka "The Amazon Lady" might have to be moved out of her "Alpha" spot.

Mudd,

Isn't the "Northstar" a bow that JD Berry is building for you?  Is this a new model or a bow that you and James have collaborated on and created?  Is it an R/D or straight-limbed bow?

Thanks,
Rob

Mudd

The "Northstar" is being evaluated to determine if it will be placed in the line up.

It's a reverse handle string follow.

The 1st one I tried was only 62" long which is why I nicknamed the "Bumblebee".

Bows that short aren't supposed to be that smooth.

I asked Mr Berry if he would consider building another prototype but make it 66" and 51 or 52@28.

I am about as excited as I have ever been thinking
about a different bow.

My Northstar should be getting started real soon. I am having James build mine at 62" and ill give her a go there.
It's a reverse handle/ stringfollow straightlimbed bow.  I already own every other model so I HAD to have one!!!

If what Mudd and James says is true then this beauty will defy all "rules" when it comes to a "Hill bow

Excellent idea Butch ! That way I can drive over and shoot them some also while I wait for my Misty dawn to be built   :goldtooth:   .

Wow Butch, such a great gesture to offer. I mean to think that someone would offer to help keep my bows worked out and feeling love as they sit un attended and lonely. :)

In going home this weekend FINALLY so ill be able to shoot a couple arrows.

My "Hill style" JD Berry Vixen aka "Amazon Lady" 66"47@28 is dress to kill.

These photos show the "On bow blind" that I made a couple of days ago to replace the one that found a new home with another tradgang member.

I hope John has as much fun with his as I know I will with mine.

Thank you for the kind words.

My back quiver is my quiver of choice but it was about 86 degrees out already and the humidity was also in the high 80's so I opted to leave the back quiver off and go with something that didn't make me sweat as much.

Mudd,

Thanks for the information on the North Star.  Very interesting.
