Thank you ALL,for your concerns.
Dad's hanging in there,tough old SOB,they don't make'em like that anymore.
It's tough watching him, running out of breath just going upstairs...
MAN! I wish I could do SOMETHING!

Steve,

There  is something you can do and it sounds like you're doing it...spend as much time with dad as you can... talking...letting him talk about his fears, his hopes, and whatever he needs to talk about the "end times." Find a way to be that rock for him..much as it hurts and as powerless as it feels...

Greater love has no one then to endure tremendous pain in the name of love...you can't change what is going on...but you can be there is ways that will rip yer guts out... but you'll never regret it.  I know how it was with my Mom 18 months ago... best few weeks I ever had with her...but the most painful at the time.

God will bring you to it and He'll bring you through it. Prayers continue...

I'm so sorry you have to bear this pain, but thank you for sharing it, I'll make sure I tell my Dad I love him before I'm forced to do it because of a disease or accident. Gods grace be with you and your family, your Dads obviously done a good job raising you, you sound like a compassionate loving person.
I don't know your pain, but I sense it's large. I'll pray for you.

Just got off the phone with Hospice, one tough call.
Doctors give my Dad 2months.
I hope they are painless ones.

Thanks,Steve, from taking time from your grief to come here and share with us.

You help remind us that none of us are eternal and that in the midst of the busyness of this season, we NEED to stop and remember, this is all about God's love for us.."that He so loved the world..."

He lost His son for us and you've lost your father. Now your Father is with our Father.  Guess that sorta makes us all brothers, doesn't it? I shed tears with and for your loss, but also tears of Joy knowing that your dad is now standing Perfect before Christ along with all those who we've all lost.

May you find some comfort in this time of grief and transition knowing that we all share your pain, as does our Lord. Someday we'll all be reunited in Glory. What a time that will be!

Peace, Steve, peace to you and your loved ones at this difficult time.

Sorry to hear about your loss. People say it gets easier with time, I am here to tell you thats not always the case. You see I lost my father on feb. 13,1999. I,like you,was there comforting him as he made his journey across the Jordan River, and all I can do now, to keep it in some type of perspective,is to allow the one whom holds my dad, to hold and comfort me. Read John 15 the father is talking about abiding in Him and He in us, the meaning is somewhat deeper than this theologically but just know when we abide in Him and He in us,there is a joy that passes all human understanding.May you find pease in the Great comforters arms,God Bless.
JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW!!!!

To God be the glory, great things He has done!!!!!

Steve, just read your post with a tear in my eye  remembering the passing of my own dad.
I 'm sorry for your "temporary" loss . Just remember that it is only temporary and soon we will all be together were there is no grief or pain. I know that these words won't cancel the loss you feel for your dad but be assured that  he is now in the place we all want to be.
