"E" on Bear Polar (1960?). ???

I have a 1959 Bear Polar bow. Amo 64" / 47# / E

What does the "E" mean?

Can't help with the "E", but according to Coppen's recent book, the 59 Polar had a copper standing bear coin and the 60 had an aluminum coin.

Wood species for the two years appears to be random - just "hardwood" listed in his book.

I hope someone can decode the "E".

I don't have an answer for the "e" but will say that it reminds me of the "a" on several of my mid fifties bows.  Logic says that it meant something to somebody or they would not have applied the letter.  I can think of a couple of possibilities such as it designating a certain team or production line.  Maybe a different formulation of varnish or adhesive was used and they wanted to immediately recognize the bows if there were warranty issues. I have to favor the latter because if it designated different teams or lines we would see some "b", or "c" letters on bows.

The 'E' Refers to the inspector on the floor that day who inspected and approved the bow.
