Just want to share a bow that Wade traded me this winter for the Hunter Model Grumley TD I had that came in a wood box. This Grumley has weaved glass backing, and was signed by John Grumley. As Wade stated, it is a late Grumley for Bear as he decided the company was not going where he wanted.  I will be taking this bow in the woods this fall, and can't wait as it's the first Grumley in hunting weight that I have found! Already took my first Traditional animal with this bow, and will not part with it ever because of that. Recently managed to protect John's signature without any harm being very careful. Thank you Wade for this trade!

That is one happy bow! Doing what it was built to do,  65 years old and no end in sight!

Shane Reed

Ty Bjorn! Yes this bow will be in the woods with me. Can't say I will not be careful with it, but it will be a happy bow with it's very happy owner. With any luck it will send a deadly arrow at my favorite game animal.

John Grumley was an incredible resource to traditional archery (especially in Michigan). He was a neat person to know and be around. I miss him and just drove past his home where his wife still lives and his family still hunts yesterday, so it's interesting this came up.

Good trade.

You ever talk to them Ray?

Ray Lyon

I talked with John's wife Julia once after his passing and his daughter a couple of times when I'd see her around town (two of his daughters worked for me when I was in the restaurant business back in the late 70's early 80's. He has a son John who has some of his personal gear. Unfortunately I saw some of it for sale in a local archery shop including a Dean Torges bow made for John. John had a short draw and I'm at 29" so there was no way I could draw that bow, otherwise I would have snagged it.

Ohh man, I also have a short draw. 25.5" I am sure they would have been perfect.

Neat Stuff as usual Shane!

Thank you Charlie! I am going to post some pictures of Grumley's past and present of mine. I have shot all but one of them. My first had a scallop crack, and I didn't dare shoot.
