Have a zebrawood riser grizzly,58",45#@28, brown glass, serial # 29CM97. Excellent condition except for 1 vertical stress line on top belly&back and 1 on the lower belly.
Curious as to year of manufacture/ possible worth.

1964 Grizzly's have paper tip overlays, and 1965 Grizzly's have fiberglass.....same bows, just different tip overlays...as for the serial number....you will see paper tip overlays on Grizzly's that the serial number starts with a 5...makeing one think that bow is a 1965...but actuly it's a 1964 sold early 1965...i.e. serial number 5XXXX but paper tip overlays...Friggen Fred kept the presses running....Our next lesson...will be the 1970 Kodiak Hunters or is it a 1971 or is it a 1972...what the heck did Fred do that time....bowdoc

The bow you mentioned would be a 1964. Just to muddy the waters a little more in regard to these two years, I have a late manufacture 65 Grizzly that has the crowned shelf which was new for the 66 model. A transition bow of sorts. I've seen several so it's not all that rare, but not run of the mill either. It's a great shooter with a nicely crowned shelf and beautiful zebrawood. CKruse

Don, I thought by 1964 Bear had done away with using the paper in tip overlays? I know this analogy was made before in the 59 and 60 Grizzly, just wondering. Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge and experiences. CKruse

Hi cam, nope bear still used paper on the 64 grizzlys for some odd reason cost maybe..1963 has a kinda redish and white fiberglass tip overlays...but they went back to paper on the 1964...pretty weird huh........maybe there rare..bowdoc

Tom

Confused on the "paper tips" Mine has what appears to be light green fiberglass rather than white fiberglass tips. Could they have been replaced at some point or change due to exposure of some kind?

Have pics but can't post-too da** dumb. Thought they might be a faded white but have a '68 kodiak with the white tips and the grizzly's are nothing like the white ones.
