Two Arrows

I have a Super Mag 48 but I'm not sure of the year of it. It's a 55# and the serial number is KX8929. The medallian is gold colored, the limbs are black, the riser is a greenish grey. Anyone know what the year of this would be? I'm thinking of either trading it or selling it, what do you think it's worth? Thanks.

It is hard to tell the year by the serial number.  With the "K" as the first letter, it is definitely a 1970's model.

From 1966 (first year of the super mag) to 1969, the first digit tells the year it was made in the 60's.  THe "k" series started in 1970 but I got no way of knowing what year.

Great bows though

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.

Two Arrows, the last year they used a Gold colored medallion was 1972, at least for Kodiak Magnums.  I believe this holds true for the Supers also.  If I had a picture I could try and match it with my Bear CD rom catalogs.

Good luck

After much research on my super kodiak and your mag too this is what Ive found out.

super mag was made 1966-76

k serial number started in 1970

coin was set flush with riser 1966-72

brass or gold colored coin 1966-70

nickel silver coin 1971-72

raised coin set on top of riser late 1972-76

raised coin was silver or gold

1953 patent date ended in 1972

if your bow has the flush gold coin it is 1970

if the coin is on top of the riser with the 1953 patent date still on it, late 1972

coin on top of riser with no 1953 date 1973-76

hope that helps, but remember I aint no expert, all my info comes from AT, TBM and the net, so dont shoot me if I'm wrong.
