Treager Anyone?

My wife thinks that I am a slow cooking guru.  I only have one regret regarding my Traeger.......should've bought it a long time ago.

I don't think you can go wrong with one.
Archery is a family sport, enjoy it with your family.

I got a Traeger Texas grill in 2006 and gave it to my son-in-law in 2011. Excellent food off of that grill, and it's still producing incredible food today. Reason I gave it to him? I got a MAK 2 Star General, which is totally made in Oregon. Just a great cooking/smoking pellet grill.

Got a ?  about these grills. I love grilling.

If I understand correctly how these grills work, how much time does it take to say, grill steaks or burgers? Start grill to taking meat off.

I am thinking these grills/smokers are better suited for roasts,ribs,briskets and such, right? which take time to cook.

Don't know how I screwed that up.  But with my experience northerner, they are pretty good for all you mentioned except steak. I just can't get the char on them that I like and my pellet grill gets up to 500 degrees, so I cook all my steaks on my charcoal grill. I will admit that the pellet smokers don't get as good of flavor as charcoal/wood smoking, but I was willing to sacrifice a little flavor for convenience.

Nope...I mostly cook burgers, pizzas, and steaks...and sausage from the grocery for more flavor.  Not sure why some think they are only for smoking.

But I have smoked a LOT of ribs on mine...bout 6 hours is all it needs at 180-200.

I don't use apple juice sprayer...just coat with olive oil...don't have to open the grill again for 6 hours.

Like I said...I sold a green egg to buy mine and so did a friend after eating off mine.  I'm just a fan of the pellet grills period.

I just recently bought a Traeger, and will never go back to charcoal or propane. Everything I have cooked on it comes out perfect. Corn on the cob is devoured at the table. Pizza has a new flavor. And ribs, oh man are they GOOD!!!
I work for a store that is a dealer in the Traeger as well as the BGE and others. I was able to get my Pro Series 22 at a discounted price. I would have gladly paid full price.
Last weekend I cooked a 55 pound piggie on it. Skin on, head off (because of the length). It cooked for 5 hours and was perfect. I have the two heat probes and didn't have to open the grill the entire time. Got my three acres of leaves cleaned up as well as many other chores during the cooking, and got to smell the incredible scent wafting from the grill the entire time. Fed 25 hungry folks that evening and heard nothing but praise about the pig.
Yes, I love my Traeger. Even though it was made elsewhere.
