Hand position

I find that if my hand is lower than it should be my shots suffer.  This is using a self bow or others that dont have a pistol grip.

It's normal. If you placed the hand below you have to compensate somehow. Japanese archery teaches you how to grip on an asymmetric bow, but better to just place the hand where it should be on a "normal" bow.

I will never learn to compensate, just not that advanced of an archer.  The other one is my cant, if it is just enough I shoot better if its not enough shots suffer.

I don't think the cant per se is the problem, but something you do with the back of the string hand - and you feel that in the ring finger. If is not in a plane aligned with the bow string you will torque the string and hit will go off. The cant helps you to place the bow and string plane aligned with your string hand.

Ya thanks, I dont know if I heard that about torquing the string.  Makes a lot of sense.
