Well, my wife picked it up at the post office today. My Darton Super-Flite Hunter. 56" and 49# at 28". It is a $75 e-bay bow and I am very pleased with the condition. It has a beautiful solid bubinga riser and plain jane brown glass limbs. No cracks or delaminations and the limbs are nice and straight.
I shot it twice in the back yard this evening at my bag target. at 10yds I hit the bag with both shots. I was pleasantly surprised! I will be shooting 29" 2117 gamegetter IIs while I work on form. Then I will worry about proper spine and tuning. I think this will be a long and torrid affair!

tx, along with the long and torrid part you may want to add deathly addictive, i think your arrows should be pretty good....just fletch them with feathers, but after my 85 dollar ebay bow now theres a mahaska in my collection...if ya think this is addictive dont get me going on bowfishing  ;)

Very Cool, get yourself some 2016s cut to 29"s and 125 grain heads and you will be on the money. Form is great to work on but the proper arrows help with that as well. Ya see if ya are shooting left for example it could be because of form(plucking the string) or your arrows are way to stiff. See what I mean? Your arrows are way too stiff and you will be amazed at how well you willl shoot with the right arrows. Congrats on your bow, I owned a Darton and it was a good shooter. Shawn

Sounds like the beginning of the end...for many other activities in your life.  :archer:

I have to agree with Shawn. You should get a set of arrows spined corectly for your bow to take the guesswork out of it. Many time improper arrows have been the cause of problems associated with form.

I think Shawn is right (hate it when that happens... but he's probaly got some arrows he's willing to sell you) but the 2117's would be better suited for a bow in the 60#+ range. However, I got my wife her first recurve off of eBay and she won her first tournament with it...so, congrats on a good deal. Be sure you get the right arrows for the bow. It may take some experimentation but it is a key component to being a happy archer.

OK, I had hoped to get by with the arrows I have. I guess that won't work so I will get some 2016s to try as soon as my wife lets me have my allowance!

Golden Hawk

Greg,Pm me your address and I'll send you a 1/2 dozen 50-55 woods with 125 grain point that should do you.

Leroy, they may be under spined a bit at 29"s. Shawn

Shawn, they should be just fine. I have been shooting them from my 48@28 recurve and they fly real good.

Great!....I agree with the guys that say 2016's....at least compare a 2016 to your 2117.

How about some cedar with footed purple heart, natural turkey spliced with some white.

Txjourneyman

Highcountry I don't even know what that means!LOL!

Hey Txjourneyman. I got my first bow about a month ago. I was having problems with arrow flight for a while. I started with 2013's cut 29" with 10gr. Then I went to carbon, they flew alot better 3555's but they still spiraled and had flight problems. I went to another archery store and bareshafted and got longer arrows. Turns out I was drawing closer to 29.5" When I got the longer arrows with 125gr. points, they fly "staight as an arrow" now. Once u get the right arrows, u will abosolutely love it, I loved it even with the wrong arrows, thought I was doing something wrong.

I have a few 29" 2016s if you need them. I will be traveling through NE TX Monday. If you are close enough to I-30 and can get back to me quick enough, I can throw them in the truck.
