What are some tips? Like do I take it down to one ring? How short can my bow be? What is a max weight range? What kind of Dimensions should I use for the bow to get the must out of the stave? Thanks for any help?

I have made a few BW self bows. Just peel the bark and make the bow with the sapwood. You will probably get a bit of heartwood in the handle.  I would make it overbuilt as per Comstock...68" long, 1 3/4" to 2" wide at the fades and out half the limb(or more) and taper to 3/8" tips. You can easily get a bow in the 50# to 55# range and maybe more.      Pat

I'm working on a BW board bow. 54"N2N 2.5" at fades & .5" at tips. It's at 4" floor tiller now.

64"TO 68"long TO 2" TO 2 1/2 at the fades.
Shorter the bow wider the limbs.
3/8" to 7/16" at the tips.Make these stiff.
