The state of Tennessee states on its website that it is illegal to own or possess wild hogs in Tennessee. There are a number of private hunting preserves throughout the state that offer wild hog hunting. Some of these preserves have been around long before the state outlawed private wild hog ownership. Other preserves have also opened after Tennessee took this position as well. How are these private owners getting around the state? Is there a caveat? I am looking at land in eastern Tennessee for this exact purpose but if I wouldn't be able to stock my property with hogs legally I'm stuck. Does anyone know why Tennessee makes exceptions for these preserves and if so how does a landowner qualify?

I would contact the Tennessee DNR and the local Legislators in the area where you are thinking about purchasing land.  Ask them all of your questions so that there will be no doubt if you should pursue this.
