I heard on the rumour mill that aluminium arrows are going to be banned for hunting in the USA, can anyone tell me if it's true or false.

LEOPARD

That's an interesting rumour. Why would they ban them?

..... I wander if it is not a sales thing - making people think they need to buy them while they can!  ;)

that makes zero sense, why now after 50 years or so...

First of all that would take a Federal mandate or legislation. It tromps all over the state DNRs. Ain't gonna happen. In theory it could be enforced on Fed Property, but that ain't gonna happen either. Think about how much money the Feds take in every year on taxes on shafts .And it can't be a hazard type thing. Aluminum is safer than lead. Sounds like someone  just  starting something.

But say it is true. You likely won't be able to buy aluminum shafts in a few years anyway. It has been obvious for some time that Easton is going out of the alum shaft business. Maybe not tomorrow but it is coming. Used to be able to select from several numbers of shafts, now they are going to narrow that down to 4 or 5. At that point you may as well buy carbon since they will both have to be tuned the same way. If it takes the same time and labor to tune both and the prices are near the same, which way you gonna go ?. A great many of us want alum but in the grand scheme of things we are a small number. The compound shooters are driving the market. What they want will be what we have to buy. Or there is always wood .

I heard that it's only in Australia where this was to happen because there is an aluminium shortage..More reason to use carbon....

It's because they make their beer cans so big. Moderation in all things...  ;)

Years ago their were those who wanted wood banned as well.  I think these rumors get started by jerks on ego trips about their superior equipment.

HA!!! Anything is possible. Just remember my friends, California banning lead in bullets.

Compound shooters DO drive the market. Good luck finding a traditional only bow shop.  And good luck even finding a bow shop that has a decent selection of trad bows.  And unless you joined a state trad org. or traditional club, good luck finding another bowhunter that shoots traditional.  And good luck finding a bowhunter that doesn't shoot traditional that believes a trad bow can actually kill anything. I could go on and on.

I'm glad trees are regrowable. Infinite supply of arrows!

I asked, and Easton says they will never stop making aluminum arrows.
If it's in your way, move it.
