Hi everyone,

I hope that this doesn't get deleted as it doesn't deal directly with trad hunting but, my daughter is writing a paper for school (7th grade) promoting hunting and the benefits of it. The problem she's having is she's getting all the info she can stand from the anti's sites but can't find pro-hunting sites that actually state facts and stats about hunting, habitat benefits, economic benefits, etc. that aren't second hand info or heresay, i.e. - chat rooms, forums, etc.

Does anyone out there know of any sites or organizations that will give her factual info on the above topics that she can reference for a paper. I'm having a brain fart in coming up with orgs. for her!!   :confused:     :rolleyes:    :knothead:

Thanks for any help you can give...  :help:

How about the Rocky Mountain Elk foundation pages? Pheasants forever and Ducks Unlimited all have good stuff, too.

Go to Borders or Barnes and Noble in the sports section find a copy of the "Politically Inorrect Guide to Hunting" (or soemthing lie that.

You can buy it or read it there...

Here is a source. Peter Capstick's

"Death in the Long Grass". He really has a way with words on this subject. Look at the Forward of the book on pages 12-14.    Lin

Michigan DNR has a good-looking page, and Googling 'Pittman-Robertson' got lots of hits. Michigan provided deer for restocking many southern states in the early 1900s. Thank You!!

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance webpage is the one you want.  Do some digging around as they have some great info on there.  But check this page specifically:

"So much do the savages esteem the wood of this tree for the purpose of making their bows, that they travel many hundred miles in quest of it."  -- Meriweather Lewis' description of the Osage Orange tree in a letter sent to Thomas Jefferson.

Look up the book "Know Hunting" by Dr. Dave Samuel.

Jerry Jeffer

There is a great book by Dr. David E. Samuel called "Know Hunting truth, lies and myths"   Try Know HUnting publications PO box 18115 Cheat Lake, WV 26507  Also, the ISBN# is 0-9672689-0-7  This book contains info on: Who are hunters and why they hunt, Who anti's are and why they oppose hunting, The values of hunting, what the public thinks about hunting, children's attitudes about wildlife and more. Hope this helps.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
