Thanks for the ride along, love to hear a hunting tale. Nice bird and good hunting!

Got my first earlier this year.  I know how you must feel.  What a wonderful bird that was as well.  Great job!

great story, great bird, great pictures---the only downside i see is those spurs---you set the bar awful high on your very first (just kidding, that's a good problem to have)

Great job! My turkey hunting consisted of haveing one fly down with a couple of hens and go the other way.  :)  After that the gar started spawning and I like chasing scales more than feathers.  :D

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words.  I'm still somewhat in disbelief.  I found myself yesterday sitting there reliving the hunt in my mind again.  Congrats to all those who got a bird this year and Good Luck to those continuing to try.  It definately gets under your skin.

Tidbits I picked up along the way, some should have been obvious.

1. Don't set your blind up for an early morning hunt with the open windows to the east.
2. Shoot the string tracker enough to not only get the feel of it but to also use some of the string.  Mine has less effect on the arrow flight once the center hole gets a little larger from some string being used.
3. Set the decoys so you are shooting in the blind on the diagonal, it gives me more room.
4. Don't forget to pray, it can't hurt.   :)

Great job, Doug!!  Me and my four year old daughter will be setting in our blind in the morning and hope to enjoy success such as yours.  We have hunted hard this season, but have yet to let an arrow go, yet.  We are have fun, though!
