I have a couple old Bears and was just looking at the 59 grizzly. The serial number struck me as kind of odd with letters at the beginning and end.  It is FG 752 A . What does it all mean? Just curious

A 1958 is Gray and most start with H HF229. A 1959 as yours ,all I've seen start with F FA044. From what I read F = Grizzly G =7th set of 999 bows
made .the 752 is the 752 bow of the 1-999 count of the  7th set. You can tell a 1959 by << dark wood commas below the grip. 1960's only have < one. The numbers on 1960 Grizzly are mixed up started with the FA044 style and late going to the 14H150 style so the 1960's are ID. by the single dark wood
comma <.

Thanks for the info.  What about the A at the end?

Some say that is the Code for who tested the bow and wrote the weight number, as in 49#.  Others say that letter is for the shift foreman. That is the only two Ive ever heard . If any know a third or more I am listening. I hope I helped.
