case pocket knife

I have an older case pocket knife, a trapper 1977. It has a broken spring and after talking to case knives they dont make that part to repair the knife. They will replace it for free with a new knife. Can anyone on this site repair it, or is it even worth it? Thanks for any help. Frank.
