I thought I would share some pictures of my new turkey bow. I was having some trouble shooting my longbows out of my new blind so I decided to go the shorty route. I found a good shooter but didn't like the riser so I made my own with a cut to center locator style grip. The bow is 50" , 59lbs. @ 28 ". (can be drawn to 29" with no stack)The riser is wenge(SP?) and snakewood with flat grain elm limbs....Bill

NICE!!
Are you kidding me? 50"??? Sa-weet! are ya taking orders? :bigsmyl:
Bill,
I really like that bow. I'm actually in the process of making a short bow for hunting, though not that short. A few questions:
How wide are the limbs?
Can you post a side profile of the bow both strung and unstrung?
Again...very nice and I like how you used the other bow for scale.
Jeff, the limbs are 1 5/16 wide at the fades and 5/8 at the tips. I usually build short longbows but the layout on the 50 in . was a completely different set up . It usually takes some trial and error ( and sometimes disaster !) to come up with a good shooting design. Here are some pictures of the bow strung and unstrung.

QuoteNew Turkey Bow
59lbs @ 28" ???
Some tuff Turkeys where you live huh?
:p
Seriously though, that's a very nice looking bow you built.
Bill,
Very nice!!! Does that length present a problem with hand shock? From the pictures it appears alot of the lengh came out of the riser? I notice you kept the wedge between the back and belly at a minimum and used a cap for the the riser, how does that effect the bow? Again, great looking bow. Sorry if it sounds like I am picking your brain (cause I am).
Thanks,
Chuck Case
That is a beauty of a bow!
Cheers,
Donavan
That is one sweet little sucker. Congrats.<><
Very nice little bow!!
Really looking forward to shooting mine Bill.
Real sharp looking bow.
Very Nice!!!!
Way cool!
Very nice Bill, those are some cute little fades on that baby. How long is it from fade to fade on that girl if you dont mind?
Nice, Bill! Ya bringing that to Baltimore this year?
Lee
She's a Beauty, Can you bring her to ATAR?
Thanks for all the kind words guys . I was surprised to see this thread resurrected from last year. Randy , the riser from fade to fade is 14 in. I had a short bow at Baltimore last year that Doctor Dave shot and my nephew was shooting a 47 lb. shorty at ATAR last year . I still haven't killed a turkey with one !
Bill
Real nice Bill; shouldn't have any trouble shooting that out of a blind.
