Getting a lot of calls so thought it was time to get the word out so people can make plans. Hope to see ya there. Also out regular schedule for those that can make them you are more than welcome.
Pappy
If you are competing you have to have cards in by 3pm Saturday but the range stays open until Sunday noon, we decide to give awards Saturday even a few years ago because so many people that come from a long way and are packing and heading out Sunday, it has been well received. :)
Pappy
Also the range opens Thursday noon the 1st of May. Sorry for the type O in the flyer.
Pappy
Looking forward to it, Pappy. :campfire: :archer: :archer2:
Look forward to seeing you also Pat, hope the roads get better for you but feel sure you will find your way. :)
Pappy
Well, Pappy, it's an annual tradition for me, sure as elk opening day, that I try and figure out how to sneak away from school at the busiest time of year, and squeeze in a road trip to Tennessee in May. Ain't gonna happen this year, once again, but I sure look forward to hearing all about it.
Yeah, Pappy, Grant mentioned a possible alternative route. I'll look into that.
Our group, all committed, after last year's wonderful TN Classic that we would shoot longbows this year.
I am stoked...
Thank you, Twin Oaks for continually hosting this fabulous event....
:campfire: :archer: :archer2:
Thanks Pat :) and thanks for the complement Scott , always good to see and talk with you.We have been making plans and have several new targets this year coming from Rinehart, pretty cool targets, we try to add the new stuff they come out with to keep the course fresh the best we can.
Pappy
It was my first time at the Classic in 2024 - I plan to make it an annual trip. It was a great time!
I drove down by myself - it was a bit intimidating figuring out where everything was the first morning, but everyone was happy to help and I was soon registered and making my way to the practice range. I was shooting by myself and caught up to a group of 4 gentleman. They asked "Hey do you want to shoot with us?" I said "Thanks, but I'm not that good, I'll probably just hold you guys up" - "Heck we're no good either - join us" What a fortunate encounter - I shot the rest of the weekend with those guys, and shared a campfire late into the night eating steak and sipping bourbon. We were like old buddies before we left for our respective homes. I met up with some of them later in the summer at Compton's, and in a few weeks several of us are meeting up in central Alabama for a deer and hog hunt.
Some good people at these events.
Glad you enjoyed it Troy, yes I have meet many good people at these events and many have become very close friends that I would have never known if I hadn't attended. :)

Last year a partner bailed on me :dunno:
You'll love it, I promise. If you can come early. Things will start the Friday before(April 25).
Sounds good
Do I need to make a reservation beforehand if I am going to drive in and tent camp?
Pappy and the Twin Oaks gang opened up more camping places 2 years ago and generally if you need to drive out to the store or whatever it isn't a problem. No need to make reservations. For camping it is first come first served.
Thanks Pat, we should have some plenty of room but doses get tighter the later in the week, it is in the rolling hills of Tennessee so flat ground is limited and goes pretty quick. Pappy
I have plans to go this year if all goes well, hopefully I can meet up with some of ya and do some shoot'n!
Look forward to meeting you JD, I think you will enjoy it.

Need to add Jim Davis [repo arrows] and St. Joe River bows to the vendor list. Thanks
Pappy
How many people turn up to this shoot?
We had a little over 800 registered shooters last year, never know but it has grown every year since the first one. Pappy
Be there or be square!
BigJim
Thanks Jim, much appreciated, things are starting to come together, lots left to do but hopefully we will be ready to show everyone a good time. :)
Pappy
If anyone doesn't have a good time at the Classic it's their own fault.
Here is the schedule of events, some have been asking.

Thanks Pat, :) got a lot done this weekend getting ready, got most all the wood cut we will need for the Classic and the year around the fire pit, also got the new pavilion wired/lights and plugs done and ready for vendors, more to do but getting there, only about a month until people start showing up so I better get busy. ;) :)
Pappy
Mark you got things looking good and I'm sure looking forward to getting down to see all my friends. Kurt
I have an awesome snakey osage self bow that is 6-8 lbs too heavy for me and I don't know the difference between a cabinet scraper and a planer! If I bring the bow, do you guys know anyone that would be willing to help me shave some pounds off?
.
Nice looking bow, I feel sure you will be able to find someone to help you out on that, I did one for a buddy last year, not sure I will have time but I know someone will. Great bunch of people working around the shop area that are always more than willing to help. :)
Pappy
Ok, thanks Pappy. I'll plan on bringing it with me.
Things are looking good there, Pappy. I can hardly wait to get there.
Lots of bow work going on there, Michael. Like Pappy, I'm sure you will find help with your sneaky Osage bow there.
Wow how time flies, only 3 1/2 weeks before we head that way. Kurt
3 weeks before we hit the road. Kurt
Yep Kurt, time gets away, lots to do in a short time and all these storms haven't helped, maybe it will get it out of it's system by then, if not we will just have to do like we have done many time, just get it done. See yall soon.
Pappy
Brother Steve and I worked on our pop up today, trying to get things ready. Little over 2 weeks before we head out on Friday the 25th, with our buddy Eric and family. Kurt
:archer2:
Thanks Pat. Heading down this morning to start setting the ranges, it takes us about 2 weeks to get that done and tweaked so it is time to get started. :) Things are looking pretty good, now if the weather will just play nice should be a great time.
Pappy
I can't make it this year, because I'm writing a new book, hunting turkey, and getting merchandise ready for Compton Trad Bow rendezvous, but hopefully next year will be my first time. Mike
Hope you can make it someday Mike, I think you would enjoy it. Got a lot of stuff done this weekend, place is looking pretty good, won't be long now. :)
