Congratulations on  fine little porky ;)

I hope to get after my first hog soon. Never been in all these yrs.  I've been told the smaller the better , and to avoid the older boars due to thier "self~~marinating" lifestyle ;)

I'll eat boars.  Much over 175-200 they are pretty tough but usually not rank.  Now if they are eating on carrion then they will be.  Feeding on dead cattle carcasses or gut piles doesn't make for tasty pork. But grass, acorns, corn fed boars are good food.
Look at the fat.  White fat is usually good to eat.  Real yellow to orange fat, nope.
