I had a chance to hunt a great property that I only get to hunt (unfortunately) once or twice a year. This property typically has large deer numbers but the deer numbers, and definatlely the large buck numbers, have been down the last couple of years. Nonetheless, I was able to connect on this great doe on the first night in the stand. I hadn't been in my stand for 30 minutes when I saw this group of does making their way toward me through the thick brush. Although they have several trail options, they made their way down a trail that comes directly to my stand. I let the first three pass. As the last doe stepped into the opening approximately 10 yards away, I drew and shot. The shot was a bit high. It hit squarely in her spine and she dropped. A quick secon shot finished the job in seconds. I am shooting a 56" Morrison ILF with longbow limbs 60# at 28" and Beeman classics at about 525 total grains including the four blade Magnus Stinger. I was a bit surprised at the penetration through the spine. It was a steep angle but a square hit on the spine and the broadhead penetrated a good four inches after impacting directly into one vertebra. I hunted a few more days trying to find a buck without success. I did have some very cool close encounters with other does (See photos below). We are all very lucky to have these amazing creatures to hunt. God bless.

Congrats on the good eating :) In picture #3 is that ticks all over that doe?
Jack
Thanks Jack. No ticks. We have those here but not this time of year. Those are those small burrs. This area is full of them. I usually spend hours picking them off my stuff. This year was especially bad.
