I have a longbow that I would like to replace the leather handle on. Where can I find some nice black leather that would be suitable to stitch one up?
Goodwill or other thrift store. Purses, women's boots and skirts. Usually not more than $4-5 dollars and you'll have enough to do several handles and some left over.
I hadn't thought of that, Hackbow. Thanks for the tip.
there is usually a scrap bin at any Tandy Leather outlet, too. If you have one near you, check it out.
Try leather unlimited you can get large scrap cheap
I'm not sure about the town you're in, but here we have a moccossin/leather maker here and a couple of shoe doctors that always have little scraps of leather that they're willing to get rid of. They just throw them away anyhow.
Have to agree with the thrift stores. Old purses, leather jackets, etc are a good source of leather.
I got some leather sample swatches from a furniture store that worked pretty well.
But usually I use cane on my bows. It makes a great grip.
Or you could just PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a piece of real nice black dyed bison, makes an awesome grip wrap.
Thanks guys! Snakewood3, I sent you a pm.
