This is my first bow project. It is a hickory self bow, 64' long and 1.75" wide mid-limb. The tiller is not spot on but getting there. Of course, predictably, I have over shot my target pull weight of 55# @ 28". I'll be lucky to get 40#. But I am not in despair, still good experience and nothing wrong with a light bow. I might slap a bamboo back on it and heat temper the belly which I think will add some poundage - at the expense of added mass. What do you guys think. All comments welcome. Thanks.

Bow looks good, the right tip looks a little stiff and from the lines behind it, it looks like its not bending quite as far.
Backings should be put on prior to tillering from what I understand, so your looking at retillering the bow if you add boo to the back.
If you decide to the temper the belly, you might want to put some reflex into it to while you add the heat and this might fight some of the set that is occurring. While the stave is in the reflex position is when I'd add the backing. Gotta be careful that the boo doesn't overpower the belly so go slow when retillering.

Now this is just me, but I would leave the red mark alone and just remove wood from the green. As Tim said, Go Slow when tillering. Ask lots of question when in doubt.
I think I'd remove some of the wood from the sides of the outer part of the limb first and see if that helps. Start the taper about 1/3 back from the tips on each limb.
