Title: Bow Horse
Post by: Bloohkaht on October 17, 2008, 01:02:00 PM
My brother is trying to build a bow horse (draw horse?) for an x mas present for our Pops who is an avid bow builder. I was able to get a diagram and description by googling bow horse, which led me to this site also. He is having trouble with the description and diagrams, I think mostly because he has never actually seen a finished one. Can someone lead me to another diagram and/or a picture of a finished bow horse? Thanks.

That is the one I drew up a while ago and someone sent me a pic if it helps.  I built one out of osage for a MoBow auction and have some pics of it too I could send.

The primitive ways one is worthless.

I built one along the lines of the greenwoodworking version at the top of the list. It works pretty well for me... I like that style of vise as it allows a better hold of a rough stave. In my humble opinion...
