I might try to make it if my schedule permits.............
Tim
sounds great tim...we'd love to have ya...last year we had 20 or so and had a great time! Keep an eye out for upcoming postings.
Well that should be a big time!
Eric
guys keep an eye on this down further on the forums under michigan tradition bowhunters and michigan longbow association....as well as on the powwow...thanks..steve
I will pass the word to the Michigan Longbow Association membership...I love to shoot at bunnies and carp and just as sucessful at either one. JohnV>
Gonna try to make this one Bud!
Leroy...you know your always welcome bud!!!!!
Cancel the hunt. Huck and I just shot the last three rabbits yesterday before the storm blew in.
monty.... thats the beauty of rabbit hunting with tradgear..... theres always a clump of snow or an old stump to kill if the bunnies arent cooperating.... plus a deer shed could be just around the next brush pile..... hope you can join us!
Man, that sounds fun, sure wish i could shoot right now.
john...if you cant shoot ..just bring that boy along...he'll shoot for ya....steve
I'm in I live too close not to come...
The snow's deep right now, broke out the snowshoes to check my traps.
I can have a friend bring his beagles if we need more.
Can't wait!!
I hope Leroy brings a few of his "extra" bows!
We had hoped to come from Alabama, but we will be in Texas at that time.
Sounds good to me, I should be there if my short term memory dosent kick in.
You guys know I will be there!! Wouldnt miss this it was a great time last year and I am sure it will be even better this year.
Sounds like a blast! Hopefully we have better weather than yesterday.
Would love to be there but I have to announce a wrestling tournament.
ttt
That's about 1/12 hours from me. Count me in. I had a blast a couple of years ago. Will some elk stew work for lunch?
Howard
elk stew would be outstanding....bring some along..there will be a pavillion at the park that we can have our lunch at..
I will check my home schedule- may have a b-ball game for my daughters travel league. I'm not coaching it so- I may just have to man up and tell the wife I've got plans for the day....
I'll let you guys know how well that goes over....
Sounds great guys. I do the Joan Leonard memorial Bunny Hunt every year and we have a blast. We have killed at least one every year and last year we got 16 bunnies, we had 30"s of powdered snow and it made the bunny hunting hard but rewarding!! Have Fun!! Shawn
Sounds like a lot of fun. I may have a couple of brothers to bring along if it works out. We do not have dogs, but sure we could bring some food along. I'll check with the guys and let you know.
Monty C... bring them along..we'll have some beagles for sure...we had a great time last year.
ttt for a great guy!!
we better hope this rabbit isnt hanging out around the state park....lol!!!!!!!http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1309472527656573854&q=rabbitvssnake.wmv&hl=en
Do You have to have a state park sticker for this park?
doug.... a state park sticker will work or most of us will just grab a daily permit on the way in.... i'll post this and the details sometime after christmas.....If we hunt the outside area of the park a parking permit will not be needed... but, again i'll post this with details of a meeting spot and other details later....if we have enough interest we may do a trading blanket or a raffle for st judes like we did last year.... stay tuned there will be more to come!!
Steve, great thing your doing. The St. Judes thing is the way to go. We do it every year and hope to raise $3000 this year!! I would love to attend but man the trip would kill me, as well as the wife! :bigsmyl: Shawn
thanks Shawn! we'd love to have you and the wife ...any out of staters are always welome!!
up
I'm in. Sounds like fun and it's only an hour from me.
Michael...that is awesome...looking forward to meeting ya...steve

I thought I would pass on license info for the out of state folks. You can check the
Michigan DNR License fees (http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10363_14518-173829--,00.html) webpage. A three day non resident small game license is $30. Oh yeah, orange is required too.
I hope to make it over for the hunt.
Merry Christmas All.
I'll put it on my calendar. I really enjoyed the Michigan Bunny Hunt a couple years ago with Jason and the boys, and I hope I can make this one.
Paul
Happy Holidays!
Paul...looking forward to having you!!!!
ttt
P.S
I have a new to me longbow coming any day I cant wait to get it out.
T
Terry... cant wait to meet ya...im your neighbor in Dansville..... looking forward to seeing your new bow...what did ya get?
Jacobsladder
I got a Martin Savannah comming, I currently shoot a osage longbow I made. It will be great meeting new people that werent at the last ones I was at.
Terry
Hey this sounds like fun, I'v got a new beagle pup who could use some training. T Folts, we must be neighbors, funny thing is I shoot a Savannah too, great bow.
Dave...keep an eye on out for more info...this is going to happen and we are gonna have a great group with some excellent dogs.... look for updates on powwow and michgan trad bowhunter forum on down the page...i'll be posting details starting next weekend...hope to see you and the pup...steve
Harmless I sent you a message. Kinda cool meeting people on site's like this. One of my best friends I met on a duck hunting site 6yrs ago, he also lives in Fowlerville.
What's you arrow setup for that bow?
Terry
I have not been befor but am going to try and make this one. I watch this come and go year after year and for one reason or another my schedule was always full. I look forward to meeting all of you. An suggestions for a newbie on what to bring? Thanks!
Kevin
cant wait count me in.
joec...hope your deer season went well...cant wait to see ya at the bunny stomp...stay tuned for more info in mid january...steve
The one I put together I made beer brats if any of you remember, I do that again it is a great recipe.
Terry
If this weather continues, you'll need waders, not snowshoes to hunt those rabbits. Heard you folks are going to hit 60 degrees today. In January?
My thermometer says it is 63 degrees right now here!! I feel like I should be getting ready for the spring steelhead run not rabbit hunting!!
just rememember you're in michigan....you may need to use those waders to wade through snow in a month.... we all might have a big group hug to keep warm!...lol..!!! Lookin forward to seeing you guys...i have a feeling we will be having a good turn out.
Terry,
How could anyone forget your brats cooked in that big fryer/kettle. No rabbits that year, but a heck of a "feed" for everyone.
I had a sign made up for the Bunny Stomp...if Steve and Jason say it's cool I'd like see about raising some money for St. Judes or a local charity.
Let me know what you think...
drew...that is great! we are always interested in raising some money for st judes..... i'll talk to jason and see what else we can come up with...i hope i win that sign!
Hey Drew,
Just sent you a PM.
Howard
Howard sent you an email. Let me know if you don't get it. Thanks -Drew
stay tuned for details next weekend..
How about a date for the stomp?
Very cool this bunny bow huntin is really fun!!
Good luck guys!
michael...the date is saturday feb 16th...i posted it on the initial post on page 1....man, i love that yellow lab.... i lost old jesse last year..and i have a new 6 month old black lab....awesome companions!!!!
To those attending the hunt....We will be having a raffle at the hunt to benefit the kids at st judes ... anyone interested in donating an item... please give me a pm... It can be anything big or small ... it's for a great cause....thanks and cant wait to see ya folks feb 16th... all details and meeting point will be posted this saturday...thanks again...
Steve, must be a lot of bunnys down in Dansville, My son and I went coyote hunting down there last weekend and everywhere we looked their were guy's rabbit hunting.
Dave.... i jumped a bunch new years eve day in dansville..but havent been out since...we are actually having the bunny hunt up in st johns this year at sleepy hollow state park.....Were the guys hunting the state land? You hunting coyotes with the bow, or hunting with allen bakers group...i know those guys take a lot of yotes every year... and im glad...those yotes are tough on the small game population...

Guys,
As long as the weather cooperates- meaning no forecsated snow or ice STORMS- I plan to attend, but will have to depart shortly after lunch. If we have something to warm it up on, I'd be happy to make a pot of venison chili.
Looking forward to meeting everyone. And the first one to make a sarcastic comment about my shooting can plan on a blunt in the arse (that is, if I aim for your boots).
Labs

Howard

Jon...we will surely say that prayer for the troops....
I know Jim and his bows and they both are top notch! Evidently Jim does not know us very well if he thinks that bow is going to make it back to Sand Lake :biglaugh:
Sweet Jim's bows are great!! If I ever stop buying Shrews I might have to money to pick one up someday!!
LOL,, Prayers sent for our troops that are station'd out of the states and at home,,JB
I hear you loud and clear Tim :help:

TTT
Those are sweet!! Thanks Scott and Mindy!
We're getting about 6"-12" today..I'm hoping the weather will be good. :scared:
I'm working on some "Bunny Thumpers".
I'm ready to do some stompin and hear some beagles singin :archer:
Leroy, you coming up friday night?
I hear ya Drew!! I am ready to get outside and do some shooting. I am tired of shooting at a target in the basement.
Yea I just finished up some bunny buster arrows I have a couple with Ace Hex Heads and a couple Judo points. I will be out Saturday day giving them a whirl as we have been invaded by hundreds of crazy savage rabid squirels :D
I hear ya tim, but my groups look great in the basement! :D Till I go to my league and my ego gets a kick in the pants.
My first half dozen bunny thumpers I wasn't thinking and put white fletching on them...they look awesome, but duhhh like i'm gonna find them in the snow. :knothead:
Gotta find some bright yellow or pink for the next 6.
Jeff, I know what you mean those lil tree rats have been knocking my bird feeder around...I'm gonna take a spindle off the deck to get a clean shot through there!
leroy...that should be your new handle...."waitinonabow" .....now thats a good one!!!!!
Steven, how many guys you got so far? Also do you have to be a Tradgang member for this Stomp? I was thinking of joining you folks and bringing my buddy along, though he is not a member. Jim
Anybody is welcome to come along!! The more the merrier!!
QuoteOriginally posted by jacobsladder:

Now thats funny right there!! Every time we talk to Leroy he is always waiting on a bow or 3
Mr. Fishell you're getting close to that too... :saywhat:
I'm telling ya the buck jam is gonna need a bigger bow tent.
Yeah Yeah Yeah I hear ya Drew!! I think we need to build a bow rack for this years Buck Jam so we can display all of our bows!! Drew should have 3 or 4 more by then and Steve probably will too!!
That's funny! You guys are going up in bow count and I'm going down to 3! LOL!! I like the bow rack idea Tim since the new camp site won't have a good leanin tree. Of course we'll still need the bow tent at night.
Alright...I gonna make one, Leroy's got a good point no leaning tree. But this year, we need to get a deer hanging too!
I'm gonna stay at 2...thinking about selling the Northern mist and getting a Navajo.
Hope it isn't quite so hot this year. The way Tim is going Drew you may have to build 2 ! LOL!!
Come on Leroy I only have one bow on order... how many do you have? I think you have me beat. It just depends how many I pick up between now and then on the classifieds!! :banghead: :banghead:
Leroy that wasn't normal at all..I'm hoping you don't get the opposite when you come for the Bunny Stomp!
There you go, I could build one just for Tim..maybe Ron would see a pic of it with all those Shrews and start selling them and I could get a bow outta it!
Man since when did this turn on me I thought we were picking on Leroy!!
Alright you guys straighten up...Steve's gonna get mad since we hijacked the thread.
:goldtooth: :biglaugh: :jumper:
Thats a good read right there Stevey,Drew,LOL,,,, I'll be at two also,,no more and no less,, almost thought of sellin the little river but happy I didn't as things look alot better now. Man I can't wait till Buck jam 2008,, I think I'm ganna hunt up by the main road as that is where we seen the most deer,,LOL,,
I think Tim and Leroy could use a little intervention,, I say let all but one bow go for about two weeks and see what happens,,LOL,,
Jason I'm down to 1 real now. Glad things are better man.
WHOA!! What ya got right now Leroy??
I dont think I would make it with just one bow. May one kind of bow!! You can take all but the Shrews, how is that J? I dont think I would know what to do with myself with just one bow!!
you guys better start behaving...or ill ban you from the "stomp"... :readit: :biglaugh:
jason..did you get the package with the blunts?
Ok guys, this is my donation to the Bunny Stomp auction. A custom suede leather jacket. Size XL, so I hope some of you are big fellas. Jim (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/madtox/burning011.jpg)
Jim..that is beautiful! and a very generous gift!! :clapper:
WOW Jim that is Awesome!! You are the man!!
This will be my first time to the Stomp, and I'm looking forward to a great time. Jim
Sweet jacket,, Yes Steve,Thnakyou very much, already starting to assemble more arrows,, I got a feeling I'm ganna need alot of'em,,LOL,,J
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii152/jacobsladdergrice/100_4336.jpg)
jason...those screw on babies weigh 125 on the nose...just screw them on a 11/32 shaft.... look pretty deadly.
Did ya get another one Steve??,,J
jay...thats the same bunny...actually the arrow is just laying in the snow...not stuck in the rabbit...
Sweet man,, That is your first longbow kill, eah,,

BRING YOUR BEAGLE
Steve / Jason,
What are you guy's using for bunny arrows, I just got Heritage 150's tuned for my bow but didnt want to use them. I want to go cheap so I can fling lots of arrows and not worry.
Terry
Terry, use any arrow you wouldn't mind the chance of losing..anything you use for stumping.
Flu Flu, woodies, aluminums...just make sure you got blunts or judos on them.
I'm going out for some "Stompin" today!!!
I got a bunch of ramin shaft I think Im going to make up. The only blunts I have are hex heads but I got some field point I can nock the point off
I will be shooting 2216 aluminum with judo and hex blunts and 2117 Flu Flus with judo and hex blunts. I am ready to see what those hex blunts can do. I shot a few bunnies last year with judos and it took a few arrows to get the bunny to go down!!
Tfolts...i can bring a hand full of steel blunts 11/32 if youd like....if you build arrows...my advice would be large bright feathers...much easier to find in the snow....plus bring a few beater arrows for the iron bunny...Jason says the iron bunny likes to eat arrows...
Do you think we can talk Jason into shooting at the Iron Bunny with his foot like he did the turkey?
Tim....i had always thought that was Jasons new found form.... :biglaugh:
OOOOOHHHHH YEEEEAAAHHH I'll shoot that thing on my head if its possible,,LOL,,
I'm gonna post some pics next week of it,, I left it at work this weekend otherwise I'd have pics of it up,, Terry, I bought some secondary shafts a traditional outdoor supply,, and I beleive one of wisperstick bows, main Dealer,,that is where I've met Jim and shot a few of his bows,,Both great guys,,J
give him a call at (616) 636-2697
Tom is a great fella to deal with and he has secondary shafts for 15 bucks per dozen,,I thought that was a great deal so I'm shooting woodies plan on breakin a few on the iron bunny and maybe a few stumps,,LOL,,
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c175/whitbuffalo/th_shootingwithmyfoot.jpg) (http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c175/whitbuffalo/?action=view¤t=shootingwithmyfoot.flv)
looks to me that your foot hold is a bit inconsistant, your collapsing after the shot, and not following through, plus your anchor is a little low, and you may need to try that with 3 fingers under..other than that.... its a perfect form!!! :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Exactly Jacobs! And you'd think that by using his leg to aim he'd be able to shoot a bow heavier than just 42#s. Good grief. Man up, boy!
:biglaugh:
Glad you fellas got a kick out of that,,LOL,, 42#'s,, ya got me mixed up with Stevey :smileystooges: I'm shooting at least 53#'s out of that bow, :readit: ,LOL,, :biglaugh:
Looking good J you know you the man!!
I will justifibly admit that I never have read this post until tonight. Curiosity just happened to jump up (like that bunny) and attract my interest. Once started, I read thru the entire 18 pages of post. At the moment I believe I should wander into the pantry, grab a bottle of tomatoes and mix, possibly a tomatoedaquirie. (be back in a whiff).
Gentlemen from Michigan, You are awesome. What a splendid example of pure American spirit. The rest of this great country could use you as an inspiration to the dedication that you abide.
Bowferd, from Nebraska.
PS: No wonder we have so many bunnys left in NE. you scared em off.
Donation coming to your noble cause. Wish I could make it.
thanks Fred!! We really wish you could make it too! This bunny stomp has been able to grow because of the great "trad gang" site... Alot of us have met what we consider are closest friends thru tradgang... it has been a great tool to meet good clean folks with common interests..ie.. God,family, traditional archery, and lots of fun! The bunny stomp is getting larger every year and has turned out to be a perfect opportunity to get kids involved in the great sport of archery....Plus raise money for the kids that are too ill to make it......Thanks for your interest and the time that you took to read down thru the post....this is a great group of michigan fellows!!!
Bowferd, This is one of the greatest bunch of guys I have ever met!! I have shot trad archery all my life thanks to my dad and I am now 26. Until I found TradGang last year I thought this was a dieing bread. I have met so many great people on this site that I am more than happy to call family. There is a handful of us that make a point at least once a month (on average) to travel any distance to shoot bows and shoot the bull for a day or weekend. Our wives have even met now and at first just thought we were nuts hanging out with people found on the internet but now they know why we call these great people friends and/or family!! Thanks for your contribution to the cause. I know we can only do so much and we appreciate every little bit!! Thanks for the post and thanks for taking the time, someday hopefully we can share the same hunting ground with you.
Tim
Gee Steve if I would have wrote a little less maybe I would have beat you!! :goldtooth:
sorry Tim....it looks like we think alike! :clapper:
I hear ya!!
QuotePS: No wonder we have so many bunnys left in NE. you scared em off.
Thats funny stuff right there,,LOL,,
All 18 pages,,whoa,, thats alot of reading bro,, Thankyou for the donation to the raffle for st. Judes children and thanks for the comments that literally gave me goose bumps while I read them. My freinds on here aren't freinds anymore,, their family. In todays world ya might think that there is just no good folks around anymore. Wrong!!! ya come to tradgang and ya find some of the most giving, heart felt folks around that will drive hour or two and shoot for the day, tirkey hunt, deer hunt, and without anyexpectation of killing, we just have an apreciation for living and sharin with folks of our own nature,, God bles ya'll and keep them arrows straight,J.B.
ill second that jason btw I will be bringing a couple of dozen glue on blunts like i made for steve for anyone to try!!!
i will brong glue also

These Michigan guys are a great bunch, I wasnt at the last one but the ones before and we had a blast. I missed the Deer hunt but am making plans to go this year with my son if I can keep him interested, he will be 18 so only God knows but I am praying he stays on the right track.
Feb 16th wont be here soon enough.
Terry
Can't wait to seeya again terry,, you still buildin self bows??
My wife often tells me i have a " feather fetish" and i belong to a " bow cult" ...i think she may be right!! So, i was up until 1 am putting some loving touches on these beauties....i decided to go with 4 extra large peeled turkey secondaries, stained mahogany, with 6 coats of dipped spar urethane....these are going in the raffle, and i hope the winner enjoys!! the pic doesnt do justice...
Jason, I havent built any lately, I have one in process for over a year I need to finish someday. I was thinking of making it 90# to use when I get together with others to see who can pull it back and prove their manlyness (if thats a word).
Steve nice arrows.
Terry
wow steve lookin great!!!!!!!!!!
Nice arrows Steve,,I bet ya I could get it back,,LOL,, after my left testy hit the floor I'd have'ta leave the hunt,,LOL :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
that would be fun to watch jason
I dont want any part of watching that Jason!!
Nice arrows Steve!! Those are some beauts!!
I've been busy as heck lately but I still plan on making it. Anyone driving down from the Flint area?
pm tim fishell...his dad will be coming from the flint area.
well I got the steel rabbit at home,, Take a shot if you dare!!!HAHAHAAHAHA!!!
I also found a few more things to give for the raffle,,I would love for everyone to go home with something,,J
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c175/whitbuffalo/IMG_1872.jpg)
thanks for the steel bunny and raffle donations....it looks as if that bunny has his mouth open and is saying...shoot me ! shoot me!
That thing looks great I will definately give it a shot or two with some junk arrows....tic tic tic
oh come on terry......i got faith in ya...just dial in those ce150s and youll be ready to go.
Looking good J!! Looks like I better bring some junkers along with me!!
jason is that bunny wearing predator camo???
Yes he is,,LOL,, I thought I would kinda give it a bit of a thicket feel for the shot,, just when ya got that one small opening to put it through,, Its two layers of steel and has a front and rear plate to keep it stabalized. I thought the white paint would do good to. Should wreck a few arrows soon,,JB
nice lookin rabbit jason!!
hows the other target coming...is our engineer doing his job?
Steve you first.............
terry...i would have no problem shooting your ce150s first..... :jumper:
That poor rabbit looks like it is crying with a tear in its eye.
i think those are tears of laughter at all the arrow peices that are gonna be laying around him..
I'll think about it :readit: No way
Tears of fear,, LOL,, but if He ever saw me shoot he'd have nothing to fear at all,,JB,,LOL
ill bring some 2219s for ya guys to shoot as well as me! I can shoot them twice usually
I'll smoke that wascally wabbit...who's gonna lend an arrow :jumper:
I'll loan you some of Jason's LOL!!
Leroy ssshhh I've got one of his already a real pretty flu flu with orange, black and white feathers....it's full length so I'm doing him a favor and shortening for him.
:goldtooth:
I got one Derek left in the woods for me to use for such a time as this. He can't use it out of his new Shrew anyway :D
Guys ...something to think about and i see no way around it....sleepy hollow is a state park and there will be an entry fee if you do not have a state park sticker.... the daily fee is 6.00 per vehicle....one way to ease some of the pain so we have some extra money to give to st jude is some of us can car pool together from our meeting spot so we have less vehicles going in..... i seriously doubt there will be someone attending the booth, but to be legal we would have to stick the money in the box....i just wanted everyone to have a heads up, because i just dont see any way around it..... :banghead:
Please dont let this deter anyone from coming...youll get 6.00 of entertainment just watching jason shoot :biglaugh:
Yea by all means we don't want to cheat Jennifer out of any of those DNR dollars she lost then found again :scared:
Actually Steve your engineer has been slacking and has not had a chance to even look at it yet.
Thanks for the heads up on the fee but I dont think it should be a problem. I am sure we can car pool as much as possible from the meeting spot to the park without to much of a problem.
tim..no problem bud... jason said that youve been real busy... he also said you still havent figured out how to change a diaper :jumper:
Hey man I have the diaper changing down to a science!! It is just the talking on the phone and changing one that I need practice on yet!!
yeah i know what ya mean... when you talk on the phone and change a diaper at the same time ...you always seem to get some of that yellow custard on your fingers... :scared:
yes it's an honor system at the park the booth is closed but there is a drop box.
Carpooling is the best option, there is a church that is a 1/4 mile away from the Sleepy Hollow main gate. If guys wanted to drive there after the meet and greet at the park and ride, we could load up a few vehicles to save money on park access fees.
I used to like custard until that comment!! :p
funny you mentioned custard, I'm enjoying a nice bavarian creme custard paczki right now. :D
Yeah, talking on the phone with kids takes on a whole new tone to a coversation...last night talking with JB
(crying in the background at Jason's)
Drew: You need to go?
JB: nah my son is fine he just fell off the couch
he'll stop in a minute.
3 minutes later...
(screaming/crying in the background at Drew's)
JB: you need to go?
Drew: let me check, nah the lil guy just shut his fingers in the drawer.
drew..that sounds like my conversation with Jason.... but mine usually ends with " gotta go i got custard on my fingers" lol.
That sounds like my conversations with his as well only after 5 minuets of crying I usually have to let him go!!
I go to work for the day and wham!!! There are J-bombs going all over the place,, WWWHHHHAAAATTTTTSSSSSSS UUUUUUPPPPPPP!!!!!"tongue hangin out"

Hey I got this scetched up roughly tonight and plan on starting to burn tomorow,,The poem is just awsome,,gave me a chill when I red it,, nice deer and a difficult turkey to fill in,, I trace just about everything I wood burn but I free hand everything inside of the trace, likea all the feathers and the detail in the head and all,,I'm so excied to do this for the children and I'm really trying to get something for everyone to go home with,,
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c175/whitbuffalo/IMG_1876.jpg)
I will also have 8 targets that I make from work,, These targets will last an entire summer for even the most dedicated shooters,, will post pics tomorrow of those,, they are 24" x 24" boxes with layers of foam sheeting that we use to protect parts during shipment but after that they throw them away and I make targets out of them,, I also have six arrows holders I'm owrking on as well I should have those done by the end of the week. They come in handy in the back yard shooting or for storing arrows in,,
J.B. God bless
Looks awesome J!! Keep up the good work bud!!
i like...nice job jason....
That turkey looks a bit off right now but when I'm done with the wood burner it'll all come toghether,I'm thinkin of putting an arrow in that bucks side too, something with some turkey feathers on it,,Man this is going to be a blast,,J

Building some arrows, I have a doz doug fir shafts comming should be here thurs-fri. I also have some more hex heads. I think I may make 1/2 doz up for the bunny hunt in a bright color what do you think bright pink, yellow, floresent orange, or just a dark stain with bright highbacks?
(this outta get some comments) :smileystooges:
I got a question why the restriction on blunts for the hunt is that a game law?
I havent looked into it yet but I believe it might be game laws. I was going to ask a DNR officer about that because I have heard some people using MA-3 or Bodkin broadheads for rabbits and squirrels.
maybee A lost arrow can wound one of the dog's,like their feet, I was wondering the same.
Yeah I would definatly now hunt with broadheads with dogs. There is to much at stake and the risk of wounding a dog would be to high. But for out just stomping brush or squirrel hunting is what I was always curious about. I have shot a few rabbits with judos and had to put 2-3 arrows in them before they went down. Field points get lost to easy. I am trying hex blunts this year so we will see how they do.
the restriction is for safetys sake... a hex is ok....but no points or broadheads... we will have a large group of people plus dogs...arrows do skip and can ricochet...blunts and judos will take care of a bunny with no problem...plus that is the head you want on while stump shooting....i dont think it is a game law though....
I understood the broadhead restriction just not the field point, I do see the skipping thing happening with frozen ground and rocks.
Good call.
So I know this was brought up before but now that we are getting really close what bow and arrow set up did everybody decide on bringing?
I am going to bring my new Shrew Lil' Favorite Gold shooting 2216s with hex blunt and judos and some 2117 aluminum flu flus
I will probably be bringing some of my other bows so if guys would like to shoot them they are more than welcome to!!
ill be bringing a 60" kohannah flatbow, a 64" treadway longbow and a lonewolf 64" longbow
I'm bringing my 50# savannah with a assortment of projectiles, I may also bring my osage selfbow.
56" Kanati longbow, Easton Axis arrows and some 2216's all with hex heads. Jim
If I make it up I'll be shootin my 60" RER Vortex.
I didn't know they made any other bows then the Shrews :D .
I will be using my 54" Shrew Classic Hunter 55lbs @ 29". I will have a combination of arrows, using Ace Hex, Judo points and custom made rabbit heads by Robslifts!
I will bring the RER Little River 53#@28" and the Dwyer proto type, both bows will shoot all ceadar arrows tipped with blunts and judos. I will have back stops and targets setup at the lunchin place.
If anyone needs hex heads but can't afford them this works great if you have access to a small welder,,J

I am sure I will bring some of my other Shrews and my Morrison as well. Its to hard to decide when you have multiple bows. Wish I could bring myself to cut down to just one!!
tim..how about some pics of that morrison and your shrew collection.

man i gotta shoot that morrison tim i really like those
Tim -
Now you don't want to get those purty bows full of wet snow do you? :D
Steve -
Any problem with the magnus type small game head. I have a few I made up - blunts with small magnus bleeder blades inserted through a slit in the blunt. No problem with the other variety of blunts of which I have plenty - just wondering. I wouldn't shoot them at stumps anyway - 'course I probably wouldn't hit the stump!!
Tim - That that is one fine collection of bows! Don't worry when you get to be as old as I am you will find that one bow that you just can't put down and that will be the one. However until then it sure is an expensive but very fun road to travel ;)
Any updates on the weather situation? I live between Cadillac and Manistee and we sure have had our share of snow. I know the midstate area has been pummeled lately and I think yesterday was a real kicker. What's the situation in the Lansing area? Apparently, Pentwater had 15" yesterday. With the "arctic blast" of air expected for the weekend and early next week, I doubt there will be much of a thaw! Everyone better bring their tall walkin' boots, and hope the "stumps" are even visible.
Not sure about Lansing area but I live just north of G.R and all the back roads still haven't been plowed. I am guessing we go 8 to 10 inches of snow. I am going to see if my grandson's snow shoes will fit me ;)
lansing area got blasted hard yesterday.... very wet snow and my power was out this morning... im guessing we got 8" yesterday....
Dick...those blunts should be fine as long as the tip is flat....
Hopefully, well get some bunnies running so you can try them out!!!
We got some snow here but not as much as you guys got to the north and east of us. Looks like we might get a little bit of snow melt before next weekend but not to much. Hopefully we get some good weather and not to much more snow!!
Thanks guys for all the comments on the bows.
We got alittle over 12", and I'm just a few miles from Sleepy Hollow. Hopefully, we'll get some melt down next week...so we end up with just a few inches. The cover is thick at Sleepy so wind won't blow it out.
Dick, I would check with the guys with the dogs when you get to the hunt about those Magnus heads..just to make sure everything is fine.
We got some string wax, donated to the hunt from Ron Bushong he makes his own with is top secret recipe. It's for sale at Jays and a few of the trad gear internet companies.
Not sure on which bow I'll be bringing, either the Northern Mist, or the Horne.
Rob you should take a picture of your bunny busters and post them to see if they will be ok to use?
I have some of robs bunny busters and i think they will be fine.... i will bring a bag full of extra 11/32 125 grain blunts if someone needs some...ive got a 100 or so...... im not trying to be too picky on these heads...but we all have to keep in mind that there will be alot of fellows, including dogs, and some kids... its not worth risking any accidents when a blunt or judo will slow down a bunny with no problem.... please keep that in mind!....if this was just a small outing with 3 or 4 guys, i would say shoot what ya want....but if those dogs run a bunny thru a dozen guys ...then there will probably be a dozen arrows in the air....you all know what im saying! better safe than sorry!
I'll have to try out some of those bunny busters. Robs been telling me about them. I'm still praying for no snow plowing!! I have been out for weeks now salting or plowing. The last 2 days the kids didn't have school, which means no sleep. I'm loosing my skull!! :knothead:
Got Snow!!! :bigsmyl:
Hey steve, got any idea how many guys are bringing dogs. I'v got a pup (8 months old) who could use some training. Also, I'm not much of a cook, but I could bring lots of munchies, you know, chips, doritos, things like that. What do you think ?
the bunny stomp details post has asked everyone to bring a dish to pass......if you want to bring some extra munchies and items...that would be outstanding! i will provide foam plates, bowls, cups , and plastic ware... we will have a grill, and a couple fryers ..... i will also bring along some jugs of water, and some pop...anyone that wants to bring extra would be great...if we dont eat it..you can just take it back home with ya.
I know of 3 dogs for sure and then i believe the fellows from newaygo are bringing some dogs... i would say bring your pup for sure!
harmless....i got a book for your boy...Drew and i saw 2 seperate coyotes on the way down to kzoo expo and i saw another single one on the corner of dexter trail and kipp rd in dansville the same morning.... must be looking for mates or the colds got them moving some.....looking forward to see ya all soon!!!

Rob, you'd hate Tim's Morrison...is doesn't shoot worth a darn :( , and that grip is horrible  ! It leaves pinecone imprints in your hand :scared: ...His Morrison Rocks!!!) All I need to do is skip a house payment to afford one. :help:
Drew I didnt know you hated that bow that much!! :bigsmyl:
Can't stand it...I'm surprised you haven't paid me to take it off your hands... :biglaugh:
:jumper:
Ya know I'm just trying to save Rob some money by not shooting it
I hear ya!! The reason I bought one is because I shot one at Kzoo last year and just could now live without one. I just had enough patience that I waited for what I was looking for to come up in the classifieds!!
I let ya give it to me if ya want
Na even if it doesnt get shot much it still looks pertty sitting there on the rack!!
Rob you couldn't afford that bow even if Tim gave to you :biglaugh:
Now that's funny...but true for me.
I'd buy one, but I can't afford the divorce and the bow...plus it would be hard to hang the bow up in cardboard box i'd be living in.
Well if Rob got another bow you would have to put two boxes together so he could stay with you :D
living in boxes isnt too bad! just make sure the opening is pointed to the south and that you dont tear the flaps off...they come in useful when its raining...oh and get a box at least 68" long....that way you can get your longest bow into it and still have plenty room for the short ones.
Sure now they changed the forecast to Sunny and 30, 20% of snow.
I like the new forecast better Drew!!
Couple more coats of clear and I'll be done with this,,

Jason B. )))------->
"TGMM Family of the Bow"
Steve and I were chating on the telephone last night and we were talking about the raffle and fun shoots. Well,, we both agreed that the iron bunny will be a must if you want to hunt for the day. We will award ya with one raffle ticket for being a good sport,,LOL,. Steve mentioned having some old arrows for this shoot in case ya didn't want to demolish yours,, I got a few of these arrows as well. I was also thinking,,and everyone chime in on what ya'll think of this,, I was thinking the bunny stomp plaque from Drew will be awarded to the person who would host the hunt next year and next year it'll hang at there camp and we'll venture to new places every year. Kinda neet to think about. If you are someone interested in carrying on the traditional bunny hunt just remember its a lot of leg work, dedication and basically its gotta be in your heart to want to do so. Don't think you have to do it all by yourself either,,lots of great folks here would help in anyway they can to ensure a great hunt for all. So don't take it to lightly if you throw your name in the hat. I know when this started three years ago thats what I had in my mind to do and T-Folts put on a wondefull bunny hunt that was just a memorable time. Stevey did alot of work last year and again we had a excellent hunt with great guys and memories to last a lifetime. This year is looking AWSOME!! already and thats the direction to keep it going in, just keep this in mind,,,ST. Judes childrens hospital, Memories for all, and good food,,
What we could do is there if more than one person is a have a drawing for those individuals who want to host the tradgang, st. judes bunny hunt. Jason B.
Jason....sounds like a good plan... it would be fun to hunt different places every year! If someone would like to host next year...Jason and I would surely help in preparing for the raffle and helping contact fellows...we will have a book for everyone to write down there addresses , phone numbers, and emails.
Oustanding David, way to go......you guys are going to have a great time, I can assure you, all while raising a "little bit of money" for kids that really need it.......Kudos to all of you! :archer:
David
Jason sounds like a great plan. I just wish I had someplace around here that had some bunnies!!

Just back from church and I have great news,, Well I have the first donation today from a good freind from church, He has donated 10 dollars for two tickets in the raffle. He wanted to make the bunny hunt but his son is in the finals for a freethrow shoot that day and he needs to be there for that. He's going to be there in spirit anyway,,J.B.
Great to hear J!! That is awesome!!
Looks like the weather may cooperate this weekend. I'm still praying my buns off that everything holds out.
Alright another added addition to the raffle,,
Sticksonly is donateing a great bow sock,, custom stitched by his wonderfull wife. After church today I got a phone call from John (sticks only) he said he can shoot indoors under his house,, I said "I'm there". Brought my two long bows and a few arrows, tied a couple new nocks on my strings and away I went into the frigid tundra. Got to his house which is nestled way back off of the county road, back in Gods country. He starts out with a few whisper sticks from J.D. lund,, oh man these bows are a truly a hidden jem and I truly hope more find out about Jims bows. We had great conversation about traditional archery,, wheely archery,, planting crops,, not to mention arrow talk bow talk and everything that surronds that. Had an excellent time there and I got to go home with a donated bow sock and a wisperstick that I'll be bringing to the rabbit hunt for all to shoot,, and shoot it does,, Its an early model of Jims so its not exzactly like the new bows he builds and it has a flaw in the bocote. But I would have never seen it if it weren't pointed out to me,,looks beautiful and shoots great so I'm bringing it. I did get to shoot the newer whisperstick recurve and it is lights out a great shooting bow with an excellent cast and dead as dead in the hand,,LOL,,

oh yeah sitting here in my living room
I will be bringing about 5 whisperstiks for you to try out. Rob has one and whitebuffalo has one. I even have the "evil cedar monster", a beautiful cedar and walnut whisperstik recurve. It is evil due to the fact that it is about 73 lbs at my draw (29.5"). Its like the prettiest girl you ever saw, then you get to talk to her and find out she is mean.
Boy OH Boy is it cold out there today, we are supposed to get up to 30 on SAT. The low will be 15-18 so it will be a little brisk for the morning walk.
Cant wait to meet the one's I havent and see the one's I have again its been way to long. I've been shooting most every day not that it helps but its fun.
Terry
i wouldnt worry about the weather until saturday morning...the weather forecast is typically wrong....cold or not...we will have a great time!!! just make sure you dress warm enough....
the annointed archer has just added a dozen arrows and some other goodies to the raffle...
up
Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Jim is going to be gone and wont be able to make the hunt. Therefore that is the reason I will be bringing more of the whisperstiks, includeing the new 56" prototype recurve!!
Sticksonly....thanks for all the help with the whisperstiks and looking forward to meeting ya!

"TGMM Family of the Bow"
Hey are we going to have time to hunt bunnies this weekend? By the looks of all the raffle prizes and all the food that's going to be there we might have to make this a two day event :biglaugh:
yep we will busy busy! im sure some fellows will want to hunt, some will want to b.s. and shoot bows, and some will want to eat !!! Im gonna do all of the above..... To all! If at all possible please participate in the raffle... we want to make a good showing for st judes....thanks again and i'll see ya saturday morning...Drive safe and we will leave the meeting point at 830 am...if anyone is late...just head east down price rd , cross shepardsville rd and continue on price rd and that will take you directly to the park entrance.. take a left to enter the park..... we will be setting up on the east side of the lake...
i just recieved the suede coat from jim ... this baby is beauuuuutiful.....he did a great job with the burning on the back..pretty cool!! whoever wins that one is going to be a lucky camper!!!
Sticshooters wife (Shell) advised me that there will be a very nice primitive etched/scribed sheath with Franks knife donation.... unbelievably generous folks!
Here is another donation from Hormoan on here and Kent arms in Grand Rapids Michigan
(http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u190/robslifts/000_0119.jpg)
a REAL nice turkey hunting vest or game vest has large pocket in the back
Thanks a lot hormoan and you have fun at texas sweat
here is the tips I made today for the flu flus I mad the other day
(http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u190/robslifts/000_0115.jpg)
hey whos the "turkey" in that vest ? :biglaugh:

some smelly guy!!! :bigsmyl:
Guys,
I'm out. Sick now and the wife is going to be gone this w/e so I'll be holding things down at home. Take lots of pictures!
hope you feel better man gonna miss a good one!
Steve sorry your going to miss out. I was looking forward to meeting you. Sometime when I am on that side of the state we should hook up and shoot. I am in Mt Morris visiting family quite often.
Oh and thanks a ton Hormoan!! Have a great time in Texas!!
Hey Rob whats that little black "souped up house cat" in the picture?
i think that pooch may have some rabbit in his blood!!! :smileystooges:
thats my little house dog ( she loves to chase rabits wherever they go) but she dont like to come back and yes she tears up our cat at our house
OK,, I have a big dilema,, The saw mill that I ordered my top wood for the turkey calls is backed up and haven't sent out my wood yet,,I'll bring the base to each call and let everyone pic out the base they want and what top wood they want with it. I ordered cherry and walnut. When the top wood comes in I'll finish the call and send it to ya in the mail.
Hey don't be making fun of Rob's dog, he is only a little smaller then the deer Rob shot a couple years ago :biglaugh:
lol jeff I havent shot the smallest deer in cAMP THOUGH!!
No, the Yooper still holds that record and the only way anybody will ever break that record is if they shoot a deer still in the womb
Hope you guys have a ball and be safe. And dont make fun of people who shoot little deer, thats the truest test of marksmanship and theyre easier to drag.
Izzy
Geez Rob, ya couldn't find a better model for that vest? :scared:
I'm thinking of holding a contest at the bunny stomp....first one to hit an ice shanty with a blunt and have the owner open the door thinking someone is knocking wins a prize. :archer:
I tried to get donna to model it but she said her pants didnt match!!! :banghead:
Izzy another nice thing about them small deer is you don't have to worry about freezer space as you can eat them up at one meal :D
Hey there are some awesome raffles prizes but I would like to hear about some of the food people are bringing? I think I am bringing some good ole red stag bean hash :campfire:
i will be bringing the mother load of cubed venison chili cooked in a pressure cooker..comes out very tender...same stuff as last year! (different deer of course! )
I called the sawmill said he was sending it today. I went priority so They may be here friday afternoon, I can assemble them at Steve's friday night,, everything else is ready to go as far as sanding the boxes and all,, I hope I get them friday,, if not they'll be here monday for sure,,J.
check out the web site,,bunch of projects in here for all to enjoy,,
http://www.customsawing.com/
I am bringing Bratts cooked in a special broth that are out of this world.
T
I will have a good size grill for hot dogs and brats... Jason will be bringing a fryer and propane tank for the chili.....
I can't wait till its bratt time,,MMMMMM and throw some of dat chilli on there,,oh my gosh,,LOL

:saywhat:
IM VERY SERIOUS ...IT IS A REAL RABBIT...AND I DONT THINK HE IS GOING TO HAVE ANY PROBLEM EATING ROBS DOG.... THIS IS A SPECIAL BRED RABBIT IN GERMANY THAT IS BEING BRED TO FEED PEOPLE IN ASIA.

hey I hurt my groiun muscle at work tuesday,,we'll see how I'm doing but as of right now,,,hahahahahahaha,,Just kidin,, no but really pulled a hemi at work,,limpin slightly now but I think I'll be fine by saturday,, QUICK!!! someone shot me with this arrow full of HUMAN GRAWTH HORMOANN<
Steve
Wow those Asians better look out that rabbit looks like it can eat alot............. :D
Jason what car did you pull the HEMI out of... :biglaugh: and why would that make you limp??
Maybe you pulled a HAMI??
Geez Jason's pulling Hemi's, and here I thought he was Ford Man, unless he's puttin a Hemi in the Bronco? :scared: Never know in that town he's from there use to be a Chevette with a big block in it, quick lil car but it looked funny with the valve covers sticking above the fender lines.
Must have been a slow day at work for him to "pullin" stuff like his hami or his groin. :biglaugh:
I hear ya Drew!! That bronco with a HEMI in it would be wild wouldnt it? :scared:
just recieved the raffle knife in the mail from sticshooter....... this baby is sweet..... love the sheath too!!!!!! You guys better bring a few bucks for st judes or you will miss out on some great items...
Did the bow show up Steve?
Dave...yes, i posted a pic on page 29.... sorry, i should of contacted ya when i recieved it...i figured you'd catch the post.......very cool bow and thanks again! im keeping my fingers crossed that one of the youngsters wins it...
Steve
How is the ST.Judes auction going to work, are you selling tickets and drawing or is it a bid system?
Terry
Terry it is going to be a raffle. Jason (Whitebuffalo) will be selling the tickets at the shoot. If I remember last year was something like $5 per ticket or 5 for $20 (something like that).
yep ..we will be selling tickets and we might also include some tickets for those that are successful at the iron rabbit....
Good luck you guys! The New Yorkers will be thinking of ya and cheering for ya while we are out there!!
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
I'll bring extra arrows.
For the first shot that everyone attempts the Iron bunny (succesfull or not) they will receive one raffle ticket, The iron bunny is a must do begining of the day shot for everyone so everyone will get at least one ticket into the drawing. Other than that, I'm not running any of the fun shoots to award tickets. They will be self serve and self set-up and self clean up. They are fun shoots for fun,, I'm going to do 5 for one, 6 for 20. I thought about five but I think six is more appropriate for the drawing. The drawing will be out of a back quiver and we will pull the tickets one at a time, After each time we will stur up the tickets inside the quiver and draw again. Starting with the bigger items first and trickling off to the smallest, We'll do this so everyone will have a chance at the bigger items like the bow, and knives etc..
Thanks Jamie,, we'll be thinking of you guys and gals too,,God bless,,
I think I can make it.
Codt
Hey I was just thinking, (dosn't happen to often) anybody got any fire wood ? I'm sure theres got to be a fire pit by the pavilion, their saying we are only going to have a high of 20 saturday. It would be nice to have a fire to warm up with.
Good luck you guys!!!!!
Harless I don't thank we can move fire wood.
Cody
Hey,, thats a great idea,, I'll be in the area friday and I'll see whats available I think fowlerville is in the same county so I think you can move it as long as its in the same county.
we'v camped there a couple of times and there use to be a guy out on the main road just west of the park who sold it, I'l check saturday morning, and I'l bring some girl scout juice just in case he has some.
Sweet,,
Well I thought I'd try out the steel bunny tonight and prepare for the shoot saturday,,

The famous Brat recipe: (Just to make your mouths water).
3quarts chicken broth
4 green peppers sliced
4 lg yellow onions sliced
4 beers
Brats cooked on the grill over charchoal and hickery wood.
Cook the brats as above on the grill I am doing that now.
In a large pot add all the above heat and simmer 1-2hrs..mmm mmm good, these brats are so tender and tasty you wont want to miss out. I cooked up 50 so we should have enough I hope...
rut-row - small game license, looks like I will be stopping by Hiltop Sports
terry...after that recipe and my venison chili....im just added toilet paper to the grocery list....... those brats are going to be yummy!!!!!!!
If someone didn't know for sure if they could come until the last minute :readit: could they just show up late?
As I type, my wife is carving up an 8 pound honey glazed ham. Later, I'll be picking up a few pound of sliced Colby cheese and several loaves of fresh baked Italian bread.
Thank God for tilt steering wheels. After eating all this food, we may not be able to get back in our vehicles for the ride home.
:campfire: :jumper: :jumper:
absolutely ron.... just take price rd east directly to the park entrance......follow price rd along the lake until you come to the actual entrance...take a left to enter the park....we will be set up just past the dnr booth on the east side of the lake...it will be on your left side when you pass the dnr booth...there will be guys hunting , shooting the bull, and cooking...... we'd much rather have you late than never!!! steve
Labs... with all that ham and all the other goodies... we might just have to make this a sleep over..otherwise we'll all fall asleep on the way home..
According to Nancy Ron is never late as he uses a sun dial to tell time :D
I sleep in my van alot whats one more night.
Ron that would be great if you could make it, show some of us young fellas how it supposed to be done. Well maybe not Jason with that trick shot foot of his.
T
actually i think ron was the inspiration to the foot shot....ron ...werent you the one who had to turkey hunt shooting with your foot one year???
Taking naps while driving/flying is an art.
My wife: "Honey.HONEY!!! Are you falling asleep???! :scared: "
Me (at the wheel/yoke): "What? WHAT?. I was just taking a little nap... :jumper: "
Ok guys... better late than never but I am in!! I will be there in the morning and looking forward to some great camaraderie!!!
Looks like there should be quite a turn out
Tim Fishell: You bringing your camera? We still need to do some outdoor photography this winter :D
Jacobsladder: I have a bow that I am interested in selling (Hornes Mountain Bow), if I bring that along can I donate any amount over $200 bucks to St. Judes if someone wants to buy it?
WhiteBuffalo: You gonna have my LDB Spike European mount there? I can't wait to see it!
I will try to catch up on most of this post later tonight to make sure that I don't miss something!
See you boys tomorrow!!!!
Kevin.
good deal kevin !!! see ya tomorrow
Steve,
Here's a clipping from the Shop paper (Oldsmobile) in 1965. It was also in the Lansing State Journal. When I broke my arm it was the only way I could shoot so I could hunt that year. Twenty years later I used the foot shot in my shooting demonstrations. I don't do it much anymore, it's too hard to get back up off the ground....wish I could think of something good about gettin old... :D
(http://tradgang.com/ron/ron40.jpg)
wow ron pretty amazing feet! :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Ron, Hope you can make it. Stop cracking the whip on Gregg and drag him along with you if you can!!

Jbob you are a crazy man! Very impresive video. I just watched the weather and it might be a little cold to take off your shoe for an exhibition tomorrow.
Well boys I am off to bed!! I will see you all in the morning. Dress warm it looks like it will be a cold one for a while!!
8 hrs to go boys see ya in the mornin!!!!
Man... I should probably go to bed soon :D
I will be bringing a Woolrich Button Up Shirt/Jacket in a great earth toned checkered pattern for the raffle, it has shrunk a little bit but would be perfect for a kid, woman, or smaller guy... that means Fishel and Jbobb are out, LOL!! Jusk kiddin' guys, I am out too! I will also be bringing a beautiful Horne's Mountain Bow that I will be selling... anything over $200 goes straight to St. Judes so bring your bow addiction fellas, this is an awesome bow and there should be at least $100 going to St. Judes!
I will also be bringing some venison steaks from the spike I took with the Little Delta Bow this fall, so fire up that grill boys!
Man, this is going to be a great time! See you guys in a few hours... like anyone will be reading this, you are probably all smart and asleep by now, LOL!
Kevin.
I am up and getting ready leaving in a hour....
I am looking for more warm stuff ...burrrrrrrr.
We're up and out!!!!
Steve's gone,,I'll be just behind him,,gotta get some hot :coffee:
Have a great day Gentlemen! I'm in the process of moving, so unfortunately I can't make this one, but I'm impressed with what an amazing event you've turned this little get-together into. I had a blast with you guys a couple years ago and I hope to make it next year.
Best of luck to all of you with the bunnies, auction, and fun today
Paul
:archer:
Have a great and safe hunt. Lots of PICS!<><
I'll let Jason and Steve fill you in on all of the details... but I will tell you that it was a heck of a turn out! There were bunnies felled and the food was amazing and there was enough to feed a couple of armies
I think we did pretty good for St. Judes as well!!! :D
I will try to get some pics up later this evening.
Kevin.
What a ball!!! I had so much fun, got to shoot at a rabbit, met a lot of great guys and ate some great food. Trad people are the best group of individuals I have ever met. Kind and unselfish. Great to meet you all.
what a blast guys start with the stories!!!
I'm too tired to tell any stories right now..What a blast. We sure scared the crap out of a bunch of bunnies and a few made contact..
Terry
Just one of the way too funny quotes of the day...
"Get ready- he's in here somewhere. Ready. R-e-a-d-y! There he is! Here he comes! No- there he goes! Get ready! Get r-e-a-d-y! Shoot! Shoot!! SHOOT!!! Anyone see 'em? Where'd he go?
Rabbit down! Got 'em! Woooo hooo! Yeah, baby, Good shootin'!!!"
What a great time spent with a fantastic group of guys- even the blood thirsty, rabbit terrorists that I had the pleasure to hunt with in the a.m.

Everyone got a ticket for shooting wether they were succesfull or not. Just for being a good sport and stepping up to the challenge of the shot is awsome. Have you ever golfed with a water hazard in your way and you normally would shoot right over it but for some reason it land smak dab in the middle of that pond,,LOL,,
Sounds like I missed another good time. Great day for chasing some bunnies... hope y'all brought your sunglasses! I was driving around at work thinking about you guys out having fun. Can't wait to see the pics.

Man, you guys should have finished earlier so I could see all these pics! Certainly not dial up friendly... Now I have to wait until Tuesday to see them and the video.
I hope to make it out next year, said the same last year so time will tell.
Looks like I missed a great time! Pretty bummed that I couldn't make it. Next year for certain and Leota for sure.
Wow, you guys did awesome! Unfortunately I couldn't get the day off work but hopefully next time I can. Now I have a favor to ask of one of you MTB members that participated in the hunt: Would you please write a story on the hunt and submit it to our editor along with some pictures? I would like ALL of our members to see what great and giving people we have in our group! :readit:
Guys like what has already been said what a great day. It was awesome to see all the guys again that I already knew and meet new faces!! The donation for St Judes blew me away!! It is a great feeling that this band of misfits step up to the plate when called!! It is great to call you all family! I will post some pics that I took of the day soon. Thanks again Jason and Steve for all your hard work you guys put into this!!

I would love to do it, I just wish I had better bunny grounds close to home!!
NAAAHH,,I'm just kidin Tim,, :biglaugh:
Great stuff guys! Thanks for sharing your day. Looks like it was a good one.
I think its gonna be tough to find a better spot than this....we might find more bunnies somewhere..but to have bathrooms, pavillion with fireplace and tables , enough parking to accomadate and a nice central area in the state...this worked out great...plus the amount of bunny cover and the islands....what a blast!~!!!
Man what a Day!!!
Thanks to everyone that helped to make this happen.
Sure the stompin and eatin and shootin where great but for me it was getting to spend the day with some of the greatest people anywhere that made yesterday go great.
Thanks again. See you next year for sure.
Matt

What a great hunt..I was worried about how many rabbits we'd see that that fear was quickly put at ease.
The stomp started and ended rough for me, the night before I was up at the hospital with my uncle, and he passed while i was at the stomp, but God gave me one of the best hunts of my life, a lot of new friends, and a bond with my trad bow brothers..
It was awesome to hunt with Kevin "the bunny killer" and I won't mentioned that first rabbit we both missed.
It was great to hunt with a bunch of kids that put their heart into the day and hunted hard all day..thanks to Jacob my brush stompin lil buddy, Casey who showed that pretty bow off and stomped with us all day, Jake, Cody, and all the others...you guys are the future!
Big thanks to Jason, Steve, Jeff, Kevin, Mr. LaClair, Tim, Rob, and all the others who came to stomp, shoot, eat, donate money to a great cause, and make new friends.
I have some family things to take care of...but I'll post some more pics soon..
God bless you guys!
Drew...very sorry to hear about your loss...i didnt know you had that going on...thanks again for helping set up at the park and with the signs....Awesome shot on that runner!!!!!!
Ron that picture speaks a million great words :bigsmyl: . Seeing it made my day!

I get a big kick out of watching the kids shoot, they are our future. Although sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the little kids and the big kids (grownups). :biglaugh:
I wish I could have been there. I grew up hunting bunnys.
Grant
Drew I am very sorry to hear about your uncle.

Yeah Rob I got it. I seen you guys pulling out when we got back to the pavillion and I didnt see it sitting around. I was hoping it was in my truck!! :biglaugh:
How did it shoot for ya?

I shot it out to 25 yds and was still getting 4-5" groups shooting 2117's at my draw of about 29"
Id say pretty good
Good to hear it shot well for you. No it is not for sale but if it ever is I will let you know.
Tim, Rob let me shot that Morrison, all I can say is "WOW". Rob you shouldnt have done that, I thinks thats going to cost me some money ! (yea right, let me see if I can that one by the wife !)
Great pics,, Tim,,
Casey and I had a super awesome time! She was commenting all the way home how nice everyone was and we are looking forward to it next year. Thanks to all those who put this together, it was an A++++++++ event! :notworthy: :clapper:

:goldtooth:
Yeah that girlie can put it away. She slept most of the way home. Casey said hopefully we can recruit more girls next year. I don't know man, that would be insane! :biglaugh:
Drew sorry to hear of your loss Bro! You need anthing let me know ! You and tour family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Wow, I know that was a great time. Seems like every time a group of TG people get together it is magical.
Arwin, you got yourself a special little girl there! It was great to meet you guys... but next time YOU bring the steaks, that girl would empty my freezer in no time :D LOL!
Drew, I am really sorry to hear of your loss. I had no idea you were going through something like that, you had a smile on your face the whole day! It was awesome to get to hunt beside you for the morning, you are a friggin' hoot! LOL!! Next time I don't think the bunny will be so lucky if we are tag teaming him :bigsmyl: ... oh yeah, next time celebrate AFTER you have the bunny in your hands LOL!!!!
Tim, great looking pics there bro! Thanks for the pic of me... I really am not used to getting my pic taken that often, I kind of like it that way! Thanks for the awesome arrows that you donated that I won, they are sweet!
Jason, thanks again for all your hard work and great looking pics and video that you shared here! Thanks too for the turkey call that you donated that I won. I can't wait to call in a turkey with it this spring. You will have to bring your buddy from work along again on a shoot, he was a really great guy to hang out with.
Steve, It was a real pleasure to be able to spend an awesome morning with you again. Thanks for all the hard work that you put into making this hunt a BLAST! Looking forward to more shoots with you and your kiddo.
It was a pleasure to meet a whole bunch of new guys. I can't wait to share a campfire with any of the guys that were at this hunt!
Guys, looks like ya did real good. We did good too!! We had well over 200 shots taken and we killed 17 bunnies on our two day hunt. Steve you done good brother!!! It looks like I will be sending a M.O. to Doug Campbell for $4150 dollars so he can give it to the kids of St. Judes Childrens Hospital!! That is awsome!! What more can I say: This one is for l lyou Mighigan guys->>--------> OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
Kevin, I hope we get to go out and take some pictures sometime. I could most definatly see myself getting into photography as another hobby!!
Tim, it is an addicting hobby! It extends your hunting season year round and you get to hunt species that you legally can not hunt with a weapon as well :D
Just let me know when you would like to get out and chase some wildlife, whether it is deer or just some birds. We'll have a great time... or if you want to chase some bunnies around West Michigan here with our bows before the season closes.
Kevin.
Did anyone else gete a ticket for parking in the lot without a permit? I got one on my windshield. When I came in there was no one to buy a permit from, so I did'nt get one. But, the nice thing is, there was no fine. Just send in the amount of the daily pass and that was it. So, I shipped that off last night when I got home. It was only $6.00.
Oh and who can forget the poor guy with the lost keys. What a bummer deal that was. His wife had to drive two hours (one way) to bring him another set of keys. But, I guess if thats the worst thing that happens to you the rest of your life, your all set.
the poor guy that lost his keys was Monty...labs4me...Monty was of great help and an awesome sport after losing his keys...he drove 2 hours to join our hunt...he also brought along the outstanding ham and condiments and loaves of bread...... on top of this he won the ron laclair firefly arrows and turned around a gave them to my son....they were spined 60/64 so i passed them on the Jason whitebuffalo because these have been some of his dream arrows...
Yes, the ticket is just away for the dnr fellows to gather there fees because noone is working the booth.... no big deal at all... just toss 6.00 in and send it or there was a drop box on the way out..... I also thought it was very nice that the dnr did not make it a point to check everyones licenses and totally left our whole camp alone..... and did some extra snow removal for us for parking...typically we would have to reserve the pavillion and they gave us the go ahead with no problem... i was rather pleased with the whole set up..... Drew played the biggest part in finding the location and working with the dnr..thanks drew!!!!
I posted this on a separate thread also...Jason whitebuffalo mounted my matching sheds and gave them to me the night before the bunny stomp... Jason does outsanding work and is a true friend...thanks again Jay
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii152/jacobsladdergrice/100_4372.jpg)
Wow that looks Sweet!! That guy does some awesome work, both the taxidermy and the wood burning! I have seen his taxidermy work up close and personal and it is fantastic!! (Yes, this is a shameless plug for him :D )
He has my skull mount done too and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Jason has got to be one of the nicest and most giving people that I have met... a guy that is welcome to share a campfire with me ANY time.
Kevin.
kevin...Jay is one hard working fellow.... and an unbelievable family man...His wife and kids are everything to him......sorry jason..we're talking behind your back again!! sort of! ;)
TO EVERYONE INVOLVED OUTSTANDING  :campfire:
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: ;)
That's excellant! Congrats to all who participated!
I'll hafta go back and read more of your hunt it sounds like everybody had a great time just by looking quick to see how yall made out.Congrads on a fine outting and good cause
It looks like you all had a great time!
I like the pic of Ron's dog on the dashboard. Kind of reminds me of swampbuck's dog crawling into his sleeping bag with him - those dogs work hard and deserve to be comfortable :)
:bigsmyl: Great Job Folks. :notworthy:
AWESOME!!! Great thread and hunt!! Ya gonna make it a yearly thing? OOOOHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
Man what A good time, thanks steve, jason, drew, and everyone else for putting on A great event. Its funny you mentioned the sun burn, my face got hit also. Look forward to seeing you guy's at our next event.
Drew sorry about your uncle.
Shawn, yes this is an anual event. This was the 3rd or 4th one I believe. The second one for me. It has grown in leaps and bounds in just the little time it has been going on. It is good to get together with a great group of guys!!
I can't say anything that has not already been said. It was just awesome! Steve, Jason, Drew hat's off to you! Rob you did good, how great was that to come in cold and hungry and have your food already cooked! Once again what a great time, great bunch of people, all the way around!
Well done guys, well done! :notworthy: :clapper: :clapper:
Thanks for all the prayers guys!
Joe, your a bunny stomping machine...you we're always in the thick stuff and a blast to talk with even when we were both tangled up in briars.
I was pretty whipped even the next day...but it was worth it!
Jim, I'll write up a story for Trad trails....unless someone else had planned on it?
Kevin...I can't think of a better way to meet someone other than shooting and missing the same rabbit only to laugh and shake hands!
Arwin, tell miss casey she'd better get some of her girl friends in the sport that's her job for next year...now I know why Arwin shoots so many deer that girl can eat! I cracked up laughing when Rob yelled "Who wants more vension steak" and Casey shouts "I DO, and I like it bloody!!"
Terry and Kyle, you guys were great to hunt with..I can't wait to do some riding with Kyle.
It was nice to see to two new members to trad shooting, Conner and Cody...I think those two are hooked for life!
Leroy...wish you could have been there bud, I know you'll be up next year.
I know I'm forgetting alot of others I met...
I hate to put a dampner on such a great time, but I feel it has to be done. You all thought Robslifts didn't go bunny hunting and stayed behind to help cook just because he is such a nice guy. Well I caught him red handed; he was charging people 5 dollars a plate for the food hoping he would make enough money to buy that Morrison off of Tim :biglaugh:

I thought something fishy was going on there!! He needed to charge a little bit more than $5 if he was going to get my Morrison!! :archer:
LOL the pic of Ron's dog is funny my beagle Sonny curled up in the front of Bob's truck Sat before we headed out, they like the warm sun beating down on them thru the window.
Guys ask about beagles making good pets AND hunters I think they do ya can keep them outside their tuff dogs but mine sleeps in bed with me or sleeping bag as was the case this past weekend and he love's to hunt.I take him out at least once every week to do what he loves to do
Well done guys/gals
LOL!! And here I thought Rob was just a nice guy :bigsmyl: Too funny :D
i almost made enough money too just shy of buying it from tim :bigsmyl:
Rob you would be better off buying one right from Bob!! Because for you I would charge double!! :readit: :jumper:
Wow Rob that sounds like a deal to me :bigsmyl:
Here is a pic of Tim asking Ron how many more Shrew's he has to buy before he get's invited to hunt at Shrew Haven ;)
LOL!! That is not even close to what I was asking him!! I was checking with him to see when my next Shrew is going to be done!! :goldtooth:
10-4 Tim, I am not sure if even you can afford the price to go Shrew Haven biglaugh:
OHHHOHHHH,,that was a low one,,LOLOL,, Man this is crazy I'm at work checking on tradgang
You guys are crazy, wish i could have been thier.
I hear ya Jeff!! I dont think I could afford the price to go up there. Ron once told me that there is a guy out east someplace that has 12 Shrews!! I dont think I will ever get up that high!!
And still be married that is!! :knothead: :help:
Wow - 12 Shrews! Man I don't think Ron himself has 12 :) that is a bunch of bows for one guy to have. I wonder if he has a son or needs another one :bigsmyl:
Yeah I am sure you could always offer to fill the position!! Ron says he calls him the Shrew Pig!! He said if I keep it up he will have to find a nick name for me so I told him I would stop after I had one of each style he makes!! :goldtooth:
You might have to PM me your answer but which one is your favorite to shoot!
You know that is a really hard question to answer. Right now I would probably say the Samurai. It is the quitest of the 4 that I have and for some reason I am most accurate with it. I think the accuracy has to do with me shooting that one more than the others. They all have just a little bit different feel in the draw but the grip is always the same!! Like a GLOVE!!
boy you guys love those shrews I just love shooting all of your bows!!!!
rob
That is our main reason for getting them Rob...Just so you have something to shoot while your cooking!!
Sure wish you would wipe of the Chilli stains when you are done shooting them though :D
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: So thats what was all over my bow!! I thought maybe you had a rabbit run past the shooting range or something!!
errrrrrrr sorry about that guys I am so sloppy :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
when you have some of jacobsladders venison chili...its pretty easy to get sloppy ! You just cant get enough.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need some more today I am cravin it right now!!!!
When I got home that night my wife said I definatly had to much!!! :bigsmyl:
Wish I could have been there. Great job guys! Thanks for the pictures...

They just never get tired of shooting...can you blame them?
Great pics Drew!!
Thanks for sharing and caring guys.
I really enjoyed the stories and pics....looks like an absolute blast.
Guys, I know I had fun. How many rabbits did we end up with ?
Cody
Cody, It was great to see you again!! We only got the 2. The one Kevin shot and the one the dogs got!! Drew connected pretty solid with one but it got in a hole before they could get another shot on it!!
How many dogs did you guys have?A few good dogs can be a whole lot of fun
Swamp there were 3 total...but I think the guys stomping brush may have moved more rabbits than the dogs.
I felt like I was noodling for drew's rabbit,I hate sticking my arm down those hole's,I have no idea how those guy's do it for catfish.
I'm sure the drivers on our hunt moved more bunnies than the dogs,it's totally different dog hunting vs driving. It's actually more work keepin the dog with the drivers but some folks like to listen to the music so I always bring Sonny besides the dog and my wife would kill me if I ever left him home LOL
LOL Joe just think if ya could actually reach the rabbit down there and he's backed up to the wall with his life on the line hahahahahahaha I'd reach down too just beware of the killer bunnies
Thanks to all of you for posting great stories, pics and video. I'm sure sorry that I missed this event - I'll definitely be there next year.
Drew, I wasn't looking for recognition when I donated samples of my string wax to the event. I must say though - that's a pretty cool label that you created. I might just have to buy the design from you and then hire you to handle advertising and marketing for me in your spare time.
Thanks
Ron
Ron, Thanks for the string wax!! You definatly make a great product. Thanks for the donation!!
Joe, did you see jeff's grandson Jacob? He went head first in the first hole...I thought I was going to have to hold his boots!
Swampbuck, nothing like hearing the hounds sing...well except the yell of "RABBIT!!" or the cheers and laughs when someone got a shot.
Ron, you made a donation so you deserve the recognition! I hope we thanked everyone who donated things to the raffle.
Drew,no I dident see that, he probally diddent even think about some blood thirsty rabbit waiting to take his hand off.
That's just Jacob, he has been hunting since he was 3 or 4. His Dad is hard core hunter and JT (Jacob) learned well. Even though he hunts with a recurve with grandpa, he loves his little .22 single shot. At 9 years old he has taken more small game then I did by the time I was 18. He sure had a great time at the bunny stomp. The neatest thing of all, is at bunny camp he wasn't 9 years old anymore. All the guys treated him and all the young hunters just like one of the gang. The young hunters appreciate that more than we will ever know! Thanks again guys for showing the true colors of a Michigan Sportsman!
Jeff, I always get a kick out of seeing your grandkids and how much they love and cherish this sport. I was shooting tradtional bows at their age as well I just wish I had the same passion for it as they do when I was that age!! Your doing good teaching them keep up the good work!! I look forward to shooting and hunting with them for years to come!!

Monty..you missed out on the afternoon hunt....i wore down and stuck to the easy stomping....joec took over and i could hear him bawling a mile away..that guy can stomp!!!
oh..i cant leave out tfolts..he was bawling also... he wasnt afraid at all to put his foot in the brush.
Monty, i'm glad to play beagle for you guys anyday! Although I don't sing as pretty as the hounds.
The DNR called me, said something about a rabbit running around Sleepy with a set of car keys, looking for his ride anybody know anything about that??? :jumper:
JB that indian boy looks like he could eat a whole deer...you'd better grab your bow and head for the ground blind. :D
drew,Very nice looking call's cant wait to try that baby out. About the kid's that was so true they were A blast to be around, couldent imagine being A youngster hanging around all the guy's like that.
You bunny stomping, bunny thirsty crazy men! LOL!!! I have never seen so many "grown ups" having so much fun... I know I did, but I have never admitted to being grown up anyways :D
Jason, those turkey calls look awesome!! I can't wait to use that this spring. Your kid looks about as crazy as you :scared: LOL!! Awesome pics, thanks for sharing bud.
