Our MI rabbit season runs to March 31. Shot these two rabbits in a half hour after work last night. They seemed more stupid than wild. I think I could have shot more, but I lost my left contact lens. LOL
Mmmmmm.....Hossenfeffer! Nice shooting!
Jeff
Congratulations. :bigsmyl:
Good shooting and many happy returns of the 'wild', looks mild, day. :archer:
Woodduck, not to mention the stripe in the longbow riser and the lucky rabbit foot. Good color coordination is a must for a successful hunt.
Nice going! Our season is closed now, a lot of them show back up in the warmer weather.
Looks like well placed shots,, congrats and thanks for posting!!!!
what kind of points did you use?
Hey Ian, I carry judos and hex blunts for rabbits. Shot these two with judos. It is a 79# Widow longbow with Beman Mfx shafts. The results were similar to a .22 long rifle with hollow points
great job Denny, I put a stalk on a wiley ole woodchuck yesterday but he busted me before I got into bow range.
Good deal.
Congrats Denny! Lots of fun wrapped up in those little guys! CK
Looks like it was mild there yesterday too, was beautiful here.
Colder and clear today though.
BD :bigsmyl:
Congrats Denny. Hopefully I will get out at least one more time as well.
Hey Denny are those the tame rabbits that were living right behind your shop?
This is the breeding season, did you get them both with one shot? :biglaugh:
Ron, I already shot the "tame" rabbits on the range. You never showed up to hunt so I decided to take them out. LOL, These were junkyard rabbits.
A fine cache of rabbits there, Denny...
DENNY what kinda quiver you got there?
:bigsmyl:
Denny,
Always enjoy your posts!! I think you need a HEAVIER bow for those varmits, LOL!!
Good ol MI rabbits. They remind me of FL deer. :p
Nice job Denny.
I've seen a pic somewhere of W Tim holding a Florida deer that looks a little smaller than one of those....
ok, maybe not smaller than one - but it wasn't any bigger than the two of 'em put together... :bigsmyl:
Good Stuff Denny
QuoteDENNY what kinda quiver you got there?
That's not a quiver, that's a Rabbit Trap :goldtooth:
Looks to be one of them new Dogware Quivers from 3Rivers...
Yeah Ron----he HAD to have been using some kind of trap!! :biglaugh:
I've heard of junkyard dogs but never junkyard rabbits.
Tom, Heck, there is junkyard toms and bucks too.
Ron, Rabbit trap - LOL! Put a little corn in the bottom and they hop in for a snack. I sent your stuff to you, but now I don't know why. :)
Thanks everyone
Nice shooting! This warm weather seems to have em moving a lot. I've been seeing them on my way home from work in the mornings along the sides of the road and usually 3 or 4 are in my yard when I pull in.
I'm gonna get the beagle out for one last run this weekend and see if I can make a meal! :)
QuoteI sent your stuff to you, but now I don't know why. :)
If I didn't pick on you you'd think I didn't like you. :smileystooges: : .... :bigsmyl:
Couldn't help myself. Ran out after work and went hunting again. Should have got 4, but ended up with one unfortunate rabbit.
You should come down Ron - so I can give you a lesson in shooting rabbits. :) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/Dsturgisjr/INTERNETRABBIT.jpg)
Denny;
If you shoot like that WITHOUT your contacts, hate to see what you do to them with them in.. :biglaugh: looks like a great BBQ weekend ahead;
I haven't heard of junkyard Toms or junkyard bucks either; only junkyard dogs.
You keep killing those bunnies and you'll have plenty to eat.
Way to go bud!!

Thanks Denny but I was killin rabbits with a bow when you were in knee britches ;)

Too bad Geiko didn't have those caveman ads back then. You could have named your price with that middle photo. :)
Those were the days when I was a Stunt man double for Dan Haggerty (Grizzley Adams) That bear never did get use to me. :readit: ... .... :bigsmyl:

How is your memory Ron? I'd like to know the brands of the bows in those pics.
My memory's like a steel trap  :p
From top to bottom. a 1961 Bear Kodiak Special, 66" 60#@28". Next is a 1980 Zebra Longbow, 70" 83#@28". Last is a 1958 Bear Kodiak Special,68" 45#@28"
Fine fine job there Denny, big bunnies! They're bout the same size as Newaygo County whitetails. -
BTW--Your wife pens quite an article! Really enjoyed that in TB magazine, great job!
Awesome pics Ron. I read the post where you might be putting a book together. That's going to really be something... looking so forward to that. The pics alone will be some grade A classic stuff!!--Don McKellar
How are you doing Don?
I shot another rabbit last night- should have had a couple more. I think I'll go out this afternoon with one contact lense. The last 2 hours of daylight seem to be the best time. Last call for rabbits in MI today.
Doing great Den,-thanks
Yup, bunny season just ended. Time to hunt a few Chipmunks. The little bast....RASCALS, I mean, have been tearing the heck out of my cabin for the last couple of years.-If I can figure a good way to cook the little delecacies, I'll never go hungry.
:p
Cool Denny!!!!!
D- did ya give up the dinosaur hunting for the season then ? ;)

Gordy, You can only draw that tag once in a lifetime. Guess I'm al done. :)
Ron, Your memory seems kinda good.
Weather turned off cool and rainy for the last day. Never got a shot.
Turkey doesn't open for a few weeks, but I saw a woodchuck yesterday......
