I finally killed a buck in Ohio. I was climbing down out of my stand this morning and just happened to look over my shoulder and seen this guy chasing a doe. I hurried up and climbed back up and pulled up my bow. The buck was about 250 yards away so i gave him a few bleats with the can call followed by a few short grunts. The next time i saw him he was coming at about 40 yards. He kept coming and gave me a broadside shot at 5 yards and i made it count! :D The buck went about 70 yards and i seen him go down from my stand.
I'll be the first to admit that i severely misjudged this bucks size and may have gotten caught up in the moment. Not my biggest buck but i'm happy to get him.
This hunt was special to me as i had a couple trad gangers huntin with me in spirit. I shot this buck with an arrow givin to me by Mike Hall and I field dressed and skinned him with a knife made by ClintV! Thanks guys i couldn't have done it without ya. :notworthy:

Nice job Chad... size is way over rated!! :D
Fine buck.
Why to go what a big body deer
Congrats on your deer ,what type of bow & broadhead were you using....
Very nice Chad. I gotta agree with Charlie about the size thang. :D I can't see a thing wrong with him. :bigsmyl: CK
He'd be huge to me and if I didn't expire from sheer shock and excitement, I probably would from exertion - LOL. Congrats on a fine job, Chad.
Thanks guys! The bow is a Raven longbow made here localy. It's 60" 58#@28". I shot him with a 160gr snuffer. Made a big hole in him.
CK, You know me. Make me an offer! :bigsmyl:
Good job Chad, congrats.
David
Nice!

Nice buck man. I bet the ole heart was pounding a little while watching him come from 250 yds away to 5 yds!!!!! Congrats!!!
Congrats Chad!!!
I'm happy to see you put that arrow to good use and on a great buck also.
:D
Nice!!! :notworthy:
Nice deer, congats.

Nice buck Chad, like Steve Otto said, I bet it was exciting watchin him come in.
You gotta be kiddin me, apologizing for that Buck. Whats the world comin to. :bigsmyl:
You got that right, Randy.
Chad, you really did good. Very nice buck.
Looks like a shooter to me, congrats.
Way to go Chad! You got the mojo going this season, that's for sure.
Although I said it in private correspondance let me publicly add my congratulations, and maybe a bit of an explanation for Chad's "ground shrink" remarks. Although this one is certainly a nice buck, Chad is used to shooting MUCH larger bucks (you should see the ones mounted in his house) and has already passed up bucks bigger than this one this season so naturally he's a bit dissapointed. Just the night before when Dianne and I were hunting with him he had a much larger buck within 8 yards and passed on it wishing Dianne had been in that stand that evening.
He shot this buck out of the stand I had hunted the previous evening. Had this one come by me, Chad would have only seen him while he was helping me drag it out...I'm not that picky ha ha
Way to go my friend, glad you left the really big ones for Di LOL
 :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Nice one, good hunting!
Way To Go Chad, Congratulations!
God Bless!
Jim
Great job, Chad
Chad, Nice deer, looks like you got a new hunting buddy started!!
Man, if your gonna be spoiled, whitetail bucks is where I wanna sign up. Thats real awesome Chad. I can see where your comin from although I bet you hate (just alittle) that you feel that way in the first place. I think more and more of us feel that way as the trophy mentallity becomes more and more common and hard to live up to. Nothin wrong with challenging yourself to the extreme though. We each have to decide for ourselves of course. I always comfort myself with "theres alway next year" or "the big one has to step out one of these days, dont beat yourself up on the journey to that day". I wish I had your problems is what I'm trying to say. Rock-on Chad.
Very nice Chad! And I can vouch for the "Ground shrink" Thing!
Either way, he's really a dandy! congrats!
Thanks alot everybody. I didn't mean to come off like i was disappointed because, i'm not! I'm tickled with this buck. Like Mickey said i normaly set a high standard for myself. That is why i haven't put my tag on a buck in ohio since 2002. I have passed up bucks that would out score this one by 20 inches this year. I passed them mainly because they were young deer. I try to only shoot mature bucks but this time i just misjudged the buck. I guess i have been beating myself up a lil bit because i try to not shoot young deer and this time i shot a 2 year old. To me the age of the deer means more than the score.
Nothing wrong with this buck at all and if i wasn't hunting my own land i would shoot him 10 out of 10 times. I have this property all to myself so i try to manage it a lil bit. When someone comes to hunt with me i don't ask them to pass them. I figure if they are my guest, i want them to shoot whatever makes them happy. I just wish this buck would have walked out in front of Di, Mickey, or Mark instead!
This makes my 17th bow season and i have been fortunate to have taken alot of deer. Over the years i have grown to a point where i want to kill big bucks and to do that you have to let good bucks walk. I know it ain't for erverybody but i like the challenge! Thanks everyone and i'm sorry if i sounded like i was whining. I really am happy with this buck!
That is one hot stand Chad hunted here, an absolute focal point, I probably hunted it 3 times, and Chad twice, maybe Mickey once?.. in 5 days the prior week. A really sneaky easy to-slip-in morning stand too, never have enough of those! I had my chance in that stand for sure.
I just can't believe how responsive those bucks are with various calling methods. What a breath of fresh air! Just having three calling encounters with different bucks was great fun for me, and very exciting.
CK, I came home with one of his "extra" bows, sure am glad I did, like it very much!
Nice shootin' Chad!
Congratulations! He's a dandy in my book!
Congrats Chad!!! :bigsmyl:
Nice going Chad!! Looks like you have some good genes where you hunt!
Nice buck Chad! It's nice to see the Ohio boys getting some good bucks this year.
Very nice  ..congrats :D
Thank ya all! :bigsmyl:
Chad,
Ya need to misjudge a few my direction. LOL
Nice buck. Congrats.
Congratulations!
Congrats!!
Congrats Chad, your consistency from year to year is very impressive. That's a nice deer in any man's book, cleanly taken with a simple stick and string
Thanks JC! I spent alot of years not seeing a good buck before i started to get some consistency. Now if i could just get to where i could shoot a lil better i would be doing good. Maybe i can get ya to give me some lessons sometime in the near future. :bigsmyl:
Congrats! Nice buck!
