Rained all night and almost didn't go,But decided to give it a try anyway.Nice and cool 46 degrees,There are a lot of turkeys were I hunt and at the very least maybe I could get a good stalk on some.
After a hour of setting in my stand and not seeing anything or hearing any turkeys come off the roost I thought this morning was going to be real slow,Just started thinking about a nice nap when gobble, gobble, gobble right behind me not forty yards.Scarred the crap out of me,Ok I'm awake now.
Slowly turned and couldn't see anything so watched and watched and nothing moved.About that time I seen some turkeys start to fly down into the clearing,About 25 of them it was a group of hens and young ones. There was also three does in the clearing now.The turkeys headed east away from me and the deer headed into the timber coming my way.Now where did those gobblers go.
I was concentrating on trying to spot the deer when gobble, gobble again still forty yards and still caught me off gaurd,Dang it man.Its amazing how loud they can be sometimes,The were still in the trees.Thats where they are, Ok come on down and see me and I will give you a free ride in the back of my truck. ;)
And here the came,One by one 12 total and all nice birds landing 20 yards away,Of course behind me and making very hard to get a shot(Note to self, trim more branches on back side of tree dummy)Man they hit the ground fighting and purring and strutting. What a site I was injoying every minute of this.
I finally figured out how to get a shot with out hitting some kind of branch with my bow,I bet I pulled back 6 times trying to get it right.I Picked a bird felt the broadhead touch my hand and bam!!We have turkey soup :D
15 yds, shot through both hips dropped in his tracks.57# Tomohawk bow, ceder arrows and 4 blade bear razor heads.A little over twenty pounds and a 11 inch beard,I have some pictures but my internet company is terrible, can some one post them for me if I email them to you or they are on photo bucket to.

Thanks guys, hopefully we get some pictures on here tonight. The only bad part is the bird was soaked and so was I from the rain and his tail would not fluff up,But the pictures still came out pretty good.
Mike thats a dandy buck, Love those brow tines.
Curt,Its been kind of slow but the pre rut should get going here pretty quick.Saw a couple of bucks fighting/Heavy sparring next to the highway last friday,The wife and I got to watch for ten minutes and I saw a dead buck coming into work that somebody had cut the horns off.

Good going! I really love spring turkey hunting, and started using a mouth call, usually bringing them up behind me for some reason.
Besides the nap, which of the turkey sounds bring in turkey in the fall?
Good job! Wish I could get a turkey with my bow, I've missed some "sure" shots real close. I bet turkey tastes good.
Here ya go Tracy. NICE BIRD!
