I would like some info on what is the best option(camara) for taking pics to post on line. I will use it to post pics for TRADGANG and for my website. Some times they get blurry with the camara that I have now(when I re-size). Do I have to many PIXELS? I want this just for taking web shots
If they get blurry odds are you don't have enough pixels.
Thanks David, are you saying that when I resize my pictures smaller, a 12 pix will be better than an 8 pix camara? Now I shoot a panasonic dmc-fs3 8.1 megapixl. I down load to my computer and then resize to 480x640 and they get blurred sometimes.
It is all in what level of compression you use and what compression the originals are taken in. An 8.1 is good for pictures up to 10"x13" when done in highest quality so it sounds like you need to check your software you use and camera settings.
So if I set my camera up to take a picture the size that I want it to be, then the copy will be clear? Meaning that if I want a 480x640 pic then the best results will be to take it in that size.
You need them set to the highest quality for whatever size you choose.
Two Tracks.....
You need to set the camera to take the pictures at the HIGHEST resolution that it is capable of. Which means that the file size will be the LARGEST. That gives you some room to crop the picture, if needed.

Oh, OK. Thanks David.
It also gives you the most detail/data for the photo software to use when resizing the picture.
If you can use the original size straight from the camera in the highest resolution setting, you'll get the best results. Every time you resize/resave a jpeg file you lose some detail in compression.
Thanks again all, We had somenice camera shops but they all have gone belly up after years(20+) in business. Maybe I can goto wallyworld and they can tell me(yeh right!)
