Look for the Panasonic with the 3CCDs. Excellent cameras.

I second the vote for a Panasonic 3CCD camera...the GS320 is a good one to look for, but it shoots on tape rather than DVD...any reason you want a DVD camera over one that shoots on MiniDV tape?

I just bought a Canon DC50 DVD camera about a month ago. Great camera, great quality, but I'd highly recommend going with a Mini DV or tape camera. DVD is very fickle and you need a BUNCH of memory and hard drive space for editing. You have to format each and every DVD after you load it, and they only run at 32 minutes on Stadard Play, less on high end. The only drawback I've found with the DC50 itself is it leaves a bit to be desired in low light conditions. I bought the camera and ended up buying a new PC tower with lots of power to edit everything.

BTW....NewEgg has an excellent financing program if you are interested.
