Title: flying elk
Post by: Lon Sharp on July 04, 2007, 03:29:00 PM
A few weeks ago you guys offered me advice when I asked about lens options for a Nikon d-200.  I decided to go with the higher end models, and I am glad.  I caught this flying elk this morning!

Earlier, well before sunup, I was able to get enough light to take this bull.

Monday morning, I stopped action on this group of velvet boys...

I think this is going to be fun.  I even caught some good images of a badger, pronghorn, etc.

Thanks for the help.

I chose the 105 micro and the 17-55 2.8.  The 105 is a ton of fun and so far stuff from it looks very good.    The 17-55 is still pretty much untested except for a few casual shots, but I felt I "needed"  wide to normal format options.  What I REALLY would like to add, and the more I shoot the more I am getting the bug, is a quality something in true wildlife telephoto size.  Do you know anything about the 200-400 VR other than it is very costly?  Yikes.

VERY COOL PICS.  I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.  I would be lucky to see a White Tail some days.  We do not have critters like this.  PLEASE keep taking more pics like this.  Us Easterners who cannot see this animal and others appreciate your pics.  Thanks.  Dave
