Title: Myrtle Veneers @ Woodgallery295 (updated 5/26/14)
Post by: Troy D. Breeding on May 23, 2014, 05:33:00 PM
I think I've finally got the right stuff. When I keep getting request for a certain wood I do my best to bring it in. This is my first run of Myrtle with many to come.

Don't let the light color of these dry veneers fool you. Here is what it looked like after wetting with alcohol.

The really strange thing about these veneers is they have three different looks along the length of the veneers.

One end has Birdseye and Fisheye along with a little burl.

The middle had dark streaks and a little curl.

While the other end has heavy grain.

Finished up a few more sets of Myrtle veneers.

This is the two different pattern I've gotten so far. The first picture is the last of the material I used to get the first veneers.

The second picture is what popped up yesterday.
You never know what each piece of wood will yield.

I even worked up a few sets in 2" width. Here is one of them.

I'm still trying to get a better picture of the two different patterns after wetting.
