Looks like i'm heading to Africa in 2010 for plains game and am looking for any books I can buy now on shot placement. Any ideas?
Try the one this link will direct you to.

The book you are looking for is called Perfect Shot Placement for African Big Game by Kevin Robertson. I have the book and you wan't the full size version as well as the mini addition as a field guide / reminder. The books give a lot of info on the animals as well as excellent examples of where to place your shots. The books can be found on amazon.com
I used the mini edition of Robertson's book. Pay attention to comments like "do not shoot above the horizantal midline on a wildebeest"!!! I did, and payed the price. Good rule of thumb: aim at a spot 1/3 (but not more than 1/2) of the way up the animal, directly above the "elbow".
the link Tilzbow gave you is the best one.
the Robertson is Ok but more for rifle hunters and is not as accurate as the african hunter.
i work on, strait up the front leg 1/3 of the way up the body, for all plains game
Safari Press carries the books as well
