Title: please Pray for Kurt (1/13 update)
Post by: Cyclic-Rivers on May 07, 2013, 05:56:00 PM
Hello,  I am unfortunately asking for prayers for another young man struck down in his prime. He is 28 and has too much to live for.

My little Brother's Best friend, and Father of 3 was found unconscious. He was supposed to be in My little brothers wedding in 2 weeks.

Him, his wife and his 3 little ones need prayers for him to come back to us. Dr's are saying prepare for the worst. I ask that you pray for the best.

Thank you in advance.

Charlie Janssen

Oh, Charlie....

what is happening in our world that so many young people seem to get hit with a mystery malaise?

Prayers for Kurt and his family... that regardless of God's will that He will keep them all in His Grace and mercy thru this time!

Lord in your Mercy...

Thanks for the prayers Guys.

Kurt tried breathing on his own however when he moved the blood pressure and heart rate would soar through the roof so they put him back in the coma.

MRI results are back, they are now hopeful for a recovery but fear some brain damage.

We found out the Cause.  The police went to the Hotel room to try to find answers.  It was supposed to be unoccupied until an investigation went underway.

The police arrived to the room to find another victim unconscious who was flown to the same Hospital as Kurt. If they didn't go there to investigate this other guy would have died.

Upon Further investigation, the hotel manager was cited 2 weeks prior for not fixing the Carbon Monoxide problem and continuing to rent out the hotel room.

I'm trying to work past the anger against this Homicidal negligence.

A local bar has raised over $3000.00 to help his family with expenses.

My older Brother is driving my little brother the 4 hours up there to go and visit tomorrow.

Continued prayers are welcomed, needed and appreciated.

Yikes! In tight times, people put profit before caring too often.

I am far removed from the situation, but I can feel the anger start in my feet and move North to my hair!

Satan puts such situations to see if we can live out Christ's call to "love the unloveable".  Easier said then done.

Culpability won't heal those 2 folks in that room, but it surely needs to be dealt with for the greed and malice that generates such negligence!

CO poisoning is not to be taken lightly.

I pray for God's intervention to heal your friend and the other "victim" for that is what they are.

Prayers, too, for the heart and soul of the motel owner who would be so callous!

Lord in your Mercy... make us more like you...

Good News. Kurt opened his eyes and was able to complete a few basic tests like stick your toungue out.

He turned his head saw his wife. winked and smiled.

docs are not sure how much brain damage may have occurred and are still sayin Miracle.

Keep the prayers coming. He still has a long way to go.

Kurt is doing a bit better every day.  Now I pray that He can have the patience to get as much rehab as he can to get as well as possible.

He can lift his legs about 3 inches now. Short term memory doesn't seem to work.  They are talking about transferring him to a rehab center closer to home.

Kurt is getting frustrated and I pray he doesn't do more damage than good.

Attitude will be everything as Kurt progresses thru this.  Some quit and get angry and others see the challenge and are committed to getting all they can out of life with the change.

I will continue to pray that Kurt joins the latter ranks rather then the first.

Surely is understandable that at this early stage, he would find it frustrating to know he didn't do anything wrong, and is dealt this devilish hand---

Perhaps those close to him can get a counselor to sit down with him and look at the situation more clearly as time progresses and help him transition to what is---?

Prayers for all concerned for wisdom, insight and perseverance and total reliance on God's Grace.

Kurt is coming back to his home town this week to start a long road of physical therapy.

Just 1 week ago he couldnt move his legs.  Today with the help of staff and a walker he has done 3 laps around his bed.

this young man's determination and will to live are still baffling doctors.  They continue to say Miracle. He should have been dead 10X over, even at that he should have had any brain matter left and certainly should have never been able to have the use of his body.

Prayers progress continues and his short term memory comes back so he can get back to playing with his children.

Great news, Charlie.  Sad, sad situation generated by irresponsibility of others, but GREAT NEWS!

I hope he gets good rehab there at home.  PT can vary so greatly one place to another.

Prayers will continue, beseeching God's Mercy to be for Kurt's full healing!

Kurt is back in his hometown.  Therapists have never seen someone make so much progress so fast.  They say if he continues to work hard and improve as he has, he will be able to go home and do outpatient rehab.  That will probably bring its own set of challenges but...... At least he has seen his children now for the first time in about a month.

I visted Kurt Today. His stubborn soul made it to my brothers wedding today.  to say it was emmotional was an understatement.

His family and himself are very strong.  the international support has been incredible.

He is still wheel chair bound and has a long way to go.

His wife is a saint and stronger than ever.  I met the parents and in laws, they are nothing less than great people.  Its amazing the strength and support for this young man.

Miracles are very real.  Here is a prime example!

Prayers for kurt and his potential return home in 2 weeks.

Kurt Is Home Now for short visits.  If he improves as well as he has been he will be able to be home nightly and have intense Physical/mental therapy daily.

I seldom see people so strong.  He has a long way to go and still relies on his wheel chair.  It is obvious how well someone can do when the people around him show their love.

Please keep kurt in your prayers.  He is benefiting from them.

Kurt took Six steps on his own tonight. No walker, no aides, six regular steps.

He promptly asked to go to the races afterward.

He's at the Races as we speak with my little brother.

Actually David, He was an exceptional race car driver.  If he chose to make it a career instead of being a father,he would have been all over NASCAR winning boards.

They went to watch the local races at the local track.  Even though he cant drive right now and doesnt race anymore, he still loves to spectate.  It was his first time out socially.

I like your analogy though that is fitting.

I actually figured you meant auto races, Charlie, but that was such good news to read, it made me a wee bit silly feeling!

So Kurt was a potential "Days of Thunder" type... but gave that risky biz up for love and family!

Cool!

Holy crap!!!   I cannot believe this. Just read through the thread.  Good luck the guy and prayers sent!  Wonder how many were sick before those two.  Sounds like his medical bills will be taken care of by a major hotel chain...but that does nothing for the family and friends...nor the pain and suffering. Hope he makes a full recovery and gets back "on the track" soon!  Amazing what will and spirit can do with a little love and support.

Update

Kurt is home.  He is doing quite well.  Physical and Mental therapy every day as his new Full time job.  My little brother was over the other day and Kurt decided he was going to get up and get my little brother, the guest, a drink.  And he Did!

He has come a long way, still has a long way to go.

His wife and Children have been a huge support, his old employer says he will have  a job with them.  His son was able to finally race a car which has been put on hold for a few months.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers.  There are certainly miracles everyday.

Wonderful report Charlie! Not all miracles come out being as we ask, but you're right... God's still in the miracle business!

Prayers will continue for your friend, Kurt! May his will and his family/friends/emmployer still be with them.

And, if not too vengeful, may he get a great attorney to blister that miscreant who allowed this C0 poisoning to occur to recoup his financial losses!

Here is Kurt and My little brother.  He is Racing again but just Ice racing.

Here is a Miracle at work.  A guy who was Basically dead in May and Doctors never thought he would walk again or have any motor/brain Skills, now is back doing most of the things he loved less than a year later.

He still struggles with his left foot but is Doing Really really well. The first race wasnt so good but the second Race they took first like normal.  He always gets the kids involved and always gives away his trophies to the kids afterward, Tells them they are the #1 fan!

I'm sorry but you have to love it! There you have it Gods work in Motion.

Dear Lord Almighty...

That post of yours, Charlie, about this fella is just almost too good to be true. How uplifting on a dreary, miserable day! Thank you for sharing.

We often pray for folks, but don't always get to see the end result.

And those who do not believe, can have their disbelief!

Thank you, Jesus! How amazing!  Whahooo!
