I just aquired a '66 Kodiak 55# @ 28". I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, but a very respected tradganger and Bear collector Is in possession of it. He said its in exceptional condition. I'm excited about it!! It's the 50th anniversary of this bow, so I may just hunt sll year with it, including a Quebec bear hunt.
Congratulations. Somebody else recently scored a sweetheart deal on a 60-pounder. I had to tie my wrists behind my back to prevent acquisition of another bow.
My '66 K-Mag is one of my favorites to shoot. Looking forward to hearing more about your new bow.
I picked a kodiak up a few weeks back it's in great shape and full of sixes 1966 60" 66# my devil bear!!!! I haven't shot it yet. I put a ff string off a newer bow on it and have just drawn it back kinda working out with it . Just starting to twist my own strings up there getting better, made a few for some older 45 lb bear's want to make sure I twist a good one for this higher lb bow don't want to shoot it with one of my ugly strings.looking to use it this hunting season also!!!!!
Can't go wrong with the vintage Bear's
I love'em. This is actually my third '66. I had a 60" 45# and a 64" 50#. I've had a few bears over the years. This is my first in 55#.
Wahoo!! I shot up to my good friend Tom Phillips house today and picked it up. What a beauty!! This bow is MINT!! no cracks in the finish no scuff marks. I may have been refinished but I don't think so. I'll post pics in a bit!! Oh......its avtack driver!!!

Yessir! I have a '65 Kodiak Special in similar condition. I believe that your bow is original. Some of them had very little use and were stored away in a dark closet for the past fifty years. Good find!
I picked one up last year, hunted with it, shot one doe, its a great bow. It outshoots alot of customs I have shot, stable accurate consistency. Yours is in much better shape than mine. They are worth much more as a hunting bow than they sell for.
