Title: checkering on finish.?
Post by: Mryan2176 on December 19, 2013, 02:42:00 AM
I bought a ben pearson hunter 2 for cheap. The man who sold it to me mentioned it had some checkering on the limbs in the finish. I know nothing about old bows, or collecting them, Anyone hear this term used ? I plan on refinishing this bow for my girlfriend. I've never done it but from reading on here, i think i can handle it. I was going to pick up assorted sand paper and minwax wipe on poly. What grit sandpapers should i buy? I will post before and after pictures. I'm going to take my time and try to do it right. Other than the checkering the bow is in good shape. I'm pretty sure i can make it look new.. My only question about the refinish is the limb edges. Do i use fine grit and go real slow? I guess i just need to be cautious there. I am excited to try this. Thanks Matt
