Title: Sad News regarding Al Harford (Al's Decals)
Post by: Bjorn on October 12, 2008, 10:59:00 PM
Al Harford passed away peacefully today around 4:30 pm Oct 12 Sunday.
There will be a service in San Jose, California and as per his wishes he will be cremated and his ashes will go to Texas.
I'm so sorry that the Archery community has lost such a great guy and friend to us all.

I find it hard to come up with the right words.  As Jim said, maybe that's the way it's supposed to be.

Al Harford was Top Notch and truly one of the good guys in archery.   We spoke on several occasions and my life is much richer because of those conversations.  He always offered encouragement, sound advice and a willingness to help.  His always positive and never negative attitude is a model for all of us to follow.

His attention to detail was second to none and there are a lot of refinished bows out there as testimony to that fact.  His decals made the process of resurrecting a classic a lot easier and the finished product that much nicer.

Thank You Al, for your many contributions, Give Em Hell My Friend

Al's archery club is in the process of setting up a Memorial Website for Al. I am sure that we can get some of the statements posted here up onto that site once we have it going.

Finally, I am sure that someone from our club (either Bjorn, me, or someone else) will post a link here to that Memorial Website after we have it fully functional.

Wow. At a loss for words. I didn't know him as others here did, but I took a look at his most recent posts. Always jumping in to help, offer advise, promoting the sport. It appears we lost a great man.

I will miss you Al.

I got decals from him last year when I refinished my 62 K-Mag. He sent me two extras in case I messed one up. Now I want to find a 61 to refinish in his honor. 61 is my birth year.

I corresponded with Al a few times by email and he was always gracious and very helpful.

Go with God my friend.

The service for AL was wonderful. Great talks by his kids, friends and pastor-really touching slide show too.
Al and his family are a class act!
