It won't be me, whether it is real or not! LOL
It would be interesting to hear from bowdoc as to the authenticity of that camo job.

I was suspicious of the camo job...however I saw a 1959 kodiak painted exactly the same way with that cheesy camo. Steve Smith has it. It is a 60 pound lefty.

$1250 is way more than I would pay.

I sent him the following

"You will never sell the Palomar or the Kodiak at the prices you are asking.  If you want to get them sold at a practical price, liste each one at $9.99 and let the bidders and collectors set the price.  You bows are worth what someone will pay...no more, no less.

Just my thoughts as a collector"

I just checked and double checked then check again. That is for sure Bear factory camo and looks to be a 1958 Kodiak ??? ....but thats most likely a bow out of stock. Some Bear dealer orderd a factory camo for some customer. And Bear Archery did not have a normal factory camo'ed blemished model. So they pulled one from stock and put the quick lead based camo paint job on it and yes they did mask off the serial number length and draw weight and did add new silk screens to those bows. That one most likely does not have any factory blems, but for 1,250.00 I would probley pass no matter what kind of camo paint it has..bd

After looking at it numerous times I am in the camp of a factory job too.. It looks like they used the '57 Silk Screen, or at least not '58 Red. Sure is ugly

Looks like a 1957 kodiak with brown glass. The 1958 had white glass right?

Check the pic of the upper and lower string groves ??? they seem to be showing a little white in the chipped camo.... but maybe it's just white scuffs on the bow.It may be a 1957 ????? as for the silk screens you could see yellow-ish or a red-ish burgendy and even a few rare white silk screens on 57-58 kodiaks and KS both...I still ai'nt paying no 1,250.00 for her,no way........bowdoc

HIS ANSWER

Thanks for your input. I've been a PowerSeller under another **** ID for nine years. Been doing this a long time.

Buyers DO SET THE PRICE. But I don't waste my time on auctions anymore because it's too risky. These are BOTH Best Offer auctions. Any buyer can submit his offer for my consideration. I expect that someone will see the wisdom in doing so. Very often the Buy it Now price is suddenly and unexpectly met DESPITE the naysayers. VERY often!

Your $9.99 suggestion is the way I did it YEARS AGO. I'd still do it if I could have 30 day auctions which would assure that every interested speciality buyer had a chance to be exposed to the ad. **** has really changed over the years.

Good luck with your future collecting, I wish you well! Submit an offer if you're interested in owning either bow.

He also has up an old Howatt Palomar El Darado for $500.00 "Buy it now".  I sent him an oustion for another one that has a start bid of $99.00 with no reserve.

I guess that is his business and how he runs it.  I got no interest in either one so I should not even bother him.

Completely over the top on pricing. He's skimming the market, hoping someone will pay "anything" for this bow(s). Collecting is popular, but serious collectors see through this sort of sham. Just because it say's Bear doesn't mean it's priceless !

What really pisses me off is there are some collecters that are telling these guy's that those bows are super rare and worth 1,250.00...in today's market. No way in hell...It's sad that someone would tell the guy that the bow is worth 1,250.00....I actually did not,I say I did not see said collecter bidding...Makes no since to me.Seems maybe he just inflated the price....Kind of like the houseing market huh ? bowdoc
