Title: Tell me about this Wing
Post by: Scott Gray on August 30, 2008, 08:29:00 PM
I won this on the auction site. Can I get a little information on it. I should get it via the USPS next week. Also, If I wanted to get an endless loop string for it what length should I get. Thanks.

Looks like a nice early red wing hunter. The string should be 3 1/2" or 4" shorter then the bow. In other words a string that is 54 1/2 or 54 inches. If you go with a flemish string you can adjust by twisting the stirng to obtain the best brace height. And stay away from fast flight strings as these older bows don't handle the shock they produce.

Looks like it sports a bubinga riser. If so, it's a '65. Sold for $49.95 If it's Brazilian rosewood, it's a '64 also $49.95.

Recommended fistmele is 6 1/2" - 7 1/2". I'd start with an old 55" string (actual length) and start twisting it up until it shot right. Then make a new one that length. These bows were not AMO compliant, so the you can't go by the 3" less than bow length AMO rule.
