Title: What is this bow?
Post by: wadde on July 26, 2008, 06:08:00 PM
Does anyone have any info on this bow. It is 66 inches long, 31 pounds, blue metal flake painted metal riser, white glass limbs that takedown with one allen screw, marked with a serial# and Supreme Handcrafted by Mountaineer. Looks somewhat like the old Golden Eagle bows with the large clubs at the base of the limbs.

Looks like a "Golden Eagle" target bow.  I just saw two sets of limbs on fleabay recently.  The seller said they were from the late 60's or early 70's.  I did a quick google search and didn't come up with anything else.  You can do a search in completed listings on the auction site to see what ended. Only one set was bought.  Tim

It is not a golden eagle, I have had several of those and they are different than this one. It is something else.

I just started watching Trad Gang and was looking through the old messages when I spotted this bow.  This is a Mountaineer by Richardson Brothers of Reed Springs, MO.  I have had two of them.  I talked with Bob Richardson seveal years ago. He was a pretty interesting fellow. He had a patent pending on a metal handled bow with laminated limbs glue to the metal handle. I had one of these bows.  It was an excellent shooter. I found a collector in MO that has a dozen or so of these bows.  When I figure out how to post pictures I will share them with everyone.

That's great info Gary. I couldn't get away from thinking Phil Grabel but I'm pretty limited in my familiarity with target bows. Thanks,  GY

Does anyone know if any of the Richardson brothers are still around? If so does anyone know how a person would contact them.

It is as Gary says. I had a cool copper metal flake one with an overdraw cut out. Jim
