I am new to trad shooting so please critique my form
turkeyfans,
Hard to really tell from this video, really need to see your bow hand and feet in the video.
Good follow through, a reaction not an action. Somewhat fast release, although not a problem if you are on target.
Is there a specific concern in your shot?
Arne
its my first trad bow .I was just trying to get my release and form down before I started worrying about groups .and yes after watching I need to slow down on draw and release.i will try to get a better video in the next few days.mainly was wondering if my back tension was correct our if my elbow was to high our any other things im doing wrong

maybe this is better
Looking pretty good to me. Elbow height is great, follow through looks good.
Try this though. When you draw, draw with the arrow on the horizon (level to the world) THEN bend at the waist to get on target. That will reduce your bow hand/arm drop at release.
You are loosing the 90 degree angle of the bow arm to the spine and that is causing the bow hand to drop sharply at release. Maintain bow arm to spine angle of 90 degrees at ALL costs!
You are doing good!
Arne
great thanks a lot ill give the horizon draw a try. know maybe I can concentrate on hitting at a certain point and keep the form stuff in my Subconscious thoughts.just focus on the target
moebow- could you elaborate a little bit on maintaining the 90 degree angle with the bow arm and spine? is that keeping a stiff/extended bow arm? or keeping your bow arm on the same plane as your shoulders?
Just look at your photo/video. Is your bow arm 90 degrees to your spine/torso? If not, fix it. If so, maintain it.
As you draw and anchor, set your bow arm square to your body then maintain it at all costs. Bend at the waist to move the "T" so you are on target.
This is the archer's "T" and is critical to consistent shooting.
IF you are not sure if you are getting the "T", shoot at a bale that is shoulder height. After you shoot, walk to the bale and stand by the arrow(s). IF they are at shoulder height, you have the "T".
Arne
thank you Arne. the "T" helps me visualize it
arne could the drop in bow arm cause a arrow nock right with a bare shaft that's what im getting not been shooting long enough to attempt bare shaft tunning but had to see what my arrows was doing.43# bow. draw 27" and 600 spine, 125g point
any suggestions
ANY arrow flight you are getting right now is most likely 95% execution and NOT arrow spine. The dropping bow arm is an indicator of a form problem, this will add to a poor release which is causing the bare shaft flight problem.
Your current arrow spine is fine, What you are seeing is an execution problem.
In the beginning, bare shafting shows ONLY form/execution problems NOT tune!!
For now, forget bare shafting, just shoot fletched arrows.
Arne
I think I got the ( t ) finally.. need to work some more on my release and some sun on my legs lol.. but comment on my form for any thing that http://s93.photobucket.com/user/grichardson1/media/20160403_191822_zpsd97r9cfl.mp4.html
Your bow arm is looking REALLY good. Very steady at release!
Watch your string hand now. See it flipping out a little at release? When you get to anchor, slow down a little and let the string arm relax while holding the bow open with the string side shoulder and back. This will allow the string hand to slide back along the cheek at release rather than flipping out.
You look to be very strong and the string arm is doing all the work and not your back.
Over all, looking good.
Arne
You look really solid. Bow arm looks low and solid. I really like the string hand elbow alignment. It looks flat and level. Your release looks smooth and effortless. Great job!
Thanks guys I'm trying and I will get there someday
I'll just keep slinging arrows it will click one day
